I predicted 16th prior to the season and still think around that, it could be worse or maybe slightly better.

Thursday night reminded me of how we were mid 2000s, as soon as other sides up the intensity we can't go with them. as we don't have the talent.

Psych said 4-8 wins, I was thinking 6, so we are on the same page.

The issue is 4-8 wins is fine if we are a young talented side buidling but we are not. Our best players are Judd & Gibbs then Yarran. in their prime or past it.

Our recruiting has been abysmal. Until we admit that we are in no mans land.

No.

I am expecting our boys breathing fire this weak.
I know there will be injuries to best 22 players on a week to week basis but I'm hoping it will be minimal.

Thomas Kreuzer walker, the developing Jaksch and the pea hearted Warnock from our best 22....and a half fit is more than what we can handle, but I expect us to win this week.

I still expect us to be 7th to 10th.
My Prozac view has us in the top 8 best case scenario.

Having seen most games in full this weekend I think teams I expected lower than us may be hard to win against eg dees and dogs, but with a bit of luck and flair and good performance by MC and coach and we should beat them too.

I expected a win against tigers x 2, and also dees x2, dogs, dons reserves, North, Saints, gws GCS,WCE, crows, pies and cats. I thought we'd struggle against dawns swans port....but might pinch one...crows look better than us.

Hope we learn from round 1 and expect the players will be embarrassed enough to turn things around.

in another observation, did anyone watch the adelaide game? Eddie Betts is fit, he is ripped and he was running through the midfield at will all day long.

This is the bit that gets me. On one hand he says that the new players don't know each other, yet Eddie Betts goes to Adelaide and fits right in like he's been there for a decade by kicking 51 goals last season.

What is wrong with our program??

A lot being made of our forwards being shipped off. In all fairness, not sure Mick asked Betts or Waite to leave.

We are the England cricket team. Or England football team. We are years behind the game in every area and we still think we have a right to win stuff.

Don't think he tried too hard to keep Waite and Betts. He was so he'll bent on getting his 'son' Daisy that he did not care.

In relation to Waite, he wanted to teach him a lesson and put him in his place. Being the tough guy that he is.

I am convinced that he is like a private missile being sent to a Flower up this club. He found his retirement home, and took his friends daisy, whiley and Buttifant in the gravy train.

We are such a stupid club.

It's not so much that we have lost good players in the past couple of season, it's a worry that they want to leave.
I remember a time when no required players left Carlton, Hamill was one of the first of note.
Look at all of the ex Carlton players now at other clubs.
Kennedy (different circumstances), Betts, Jacobs, Grigg, Robbo, Laidler, Garlett and Waite.
Betts and Garlett received votes, Jacobs continue to star and Laidler was good for Sydney.
The lack of compensation we received is not good enough.

The worry is that these guys appear to play with more passion at their new homes than they did with us

I think the president has every right to ask this question as well!
I think Malthouse needs to answer it truthfully and publicly to all members!

What do you think trigger?

Will hold fire on us for a while, but to tell you the truth, I was surprised at the same old same old way in which we lost.
Didn't really think we'd make the finals this year, but thought we were past laying down meekly like we did.

Went into game week with reasonably high expectations, but like many others lost all hope once I saw the team named. Too tall, no forward target, and bursting at the seams with one-paced taggers. And as usual, the glaring imbalance was apparent to basically all fans I talked to, but not to those running the club.

After seeing the absolute lack of intensity and fitness on Thursday night, I knew I had vastly overestimated our chances for 2015. To then read that our VFL team - complete with 16 AFL-listed players - was soundly beaten by a Box Hill side sporting none... well that's as bleak of an indication for our future as I can imagine.

A finish of 17th with only St Kilda below us is a very, very real possibility. I saw nothing over the weekend to suggest that GWS or Melbourne are behind us anymore, and the Dogs have bolted and left us in the dust.

Yes it did.

Watched today's game, the port freo game and a bit of Melbourne v Suns.

We are a long long way off the pace. Too many plodders, too many question marks. And to see how far off the top teams we are in terms of fitness... Frightening tbh.

Thought we might be ok, and sneak a place in the 8.

After Thursday night and then seeing the other games over the weekend, I think we'll be lucky to keep our place in the AFL.

Sadly, the above is exactly what I'm feeling now.
In answer to the thread question, no. After the game in Bendigo and the list changes I thought we can make the 8. I am clinging to the way we played in the first quarter and will wait to see over a few more weeks.
But Thursday was a major set back imo.

Sadly, this sums up my feelings too.

Would you be confident of us beating any other team in the league at the moment? I'm not.
