Well he was always gone...
But did we sign him up six months?
Two things
A) were paying out another guy
B) professionals wouldn't come to our organisation we're too amateurish...

He lost me last draft period when he said we will draft the best player we need regardless of age. What a stupid statement .

He gave away way too much. Time will tell about his picks, but I think we need to clear out every recruiter and scout and start a fresh. They failed big time to build this team to be successful, it's only now that they have a vision since Malthouse came on board.

Didn't want to be #2 to SOS ?

Was the recruiting structure properly explained when SOS was brought in ?

Interesting comment.

What sort of record has SOS to date outside of the footy field.

If we actually land a gun recruiter he should not have to report to a mediocre type (possibly).

Hopefully just a carry over from the Sticks era....

Article on The Age also says Jason Reddick recently left, for Williamstown. Hard to see that beingbhis decision.

Any particular reason?
Thought recruitment since he has been in charge has been better.

Mixed messages.

In one interview, SR said something like: Mick specifically wanted a CHF, a CHB, and some outside run.
In another, he said something like: We'll draft the best players regardless.

I suspect he quit because he didn't have the autonomy he wanted.

Hopefully this allows us to become more professional and bring in some fresh thinking with regards to recruitment.
NB: I hope SOS doesn't get too much of a say.

Seems the machete is slashing through the admin, but only minor tinkering to the unaccountable board.

Wallpapering over the cracks ?

No just another example of the great Carlton machine ticking over as it always does.
With a heap of bullshit being sprayed everywhere just like the fan in the Flying High film. Yep the shit hits the fan once again in good old Royal Parade
As Synbad said they didnt want him when it was clear they wanted Wright.

Carlton treat their employees like pricks sometimes

By the way dont asked Cazzeman anything
He thinks everything has been hunky dory for the last 20 years.

I thought his picks have been very good. It's a relatively small % who haven't worked out, with many looking very good for the future.

Can't help but wonder what the real reasons are. Would seem the most likely would be the lack of autonomy and feeling like Carlton have been looking to replace him (poaching Hawks recruiter etc).

Hope things work out well for Shane. I think the recruiting he has been involved with for the last couple of years is setting a good foundation for the club's next 10.

To be fair I think it's too early to declare Shane's record as a success.
That's the problem with assessing recruitment performance - takes time to play out.

The process for getting a new recruiter should be the same as it is for getting a new head coach or a new boot studder:
Get the Best.
Do a search, and get the Best.

But that's not the Carlton way ...

Pagan gets sacked - just give Ratts a crack for a while!
So we sacked Ratts... what did we do next? Run straight to Mick.
Then we sacked Icke... what came next? Hey Doc McKay! see if you can have a crack at being Head of Footy!
And we sacked Hughes.... what did we do? Promoted his 2IC to jobshare for a while, then swapped them around, then played cat and mouse with the new head recruiter for the best part of 2 years, before eventually.. the final straw.

And after all the time we barracked for the club to get a list manager... finally the club heard us... and what process occurred exactly? We just decided to get SOS.
CAN'T BE ASSED !

ffs.

Compared to all that track record,
the hiring of Trigg almost seems like a best practice governance masterclass.

I've seen some good signs since the Judge took over ....
Here's hoping he will ensure that things get done the right way this time.

SOS better not get gifted the head recruiter title as well, or I'll be microwaving the membership ...

PS. for what it's worth, in my opinion I think we can do better than Rogers as head recruiter.

The Judge obviously agrees. ... or maybe this is another case of Big Bruce pulling the strings and stirring the pot ....

I wonder where he has a job lined up at? Have we even begun to "beef up" our recruiting department?
