[quote="RickJ"]Went too defensive too early. Gave them them a sniff and raped twice in two games against Geelong by disgraceful umpiring decisions at the death. @#$%&! off umpires[/quote

Had to kill minutes due to lack of rotations. Decent enough plan to get out of the trouble we were in.

The free was there. Game impossible to umpire. The only free that killed me was that Murphy HTB.

We need a better player in Casboults position.

That's the way I see it plus some depth. Add some class at seasons end and have a fit list and things can change quickly. Attitude of group to do basics is as good as we have had in a long long time.

PS. Please explain to me the reasons for playing a kid with shoulder and knee injuries late in the season with finals not a possibility?? :?

Great result. They were better than us for most of the night and butchered their kicking for goal. The umpires had no influence on it. Youo can't pick out one free with two minutes to go and say it cost us the game.
Losing the close ones is hard at the time but the feeling of losing them steels the players for the next contest.
We are playing good footy atm and when we run it we look pretty good. The results don't matter in terms of the ladder but the performances to finish off the year certainly do.
One big disappointment for me was the Thomas injury which was caused by a slide in to the contest by a Geelong player. We have seen this week after week get paid and misinterpreted but when it finally happens for real and the player is injured as a result, the free goes the wrong way.
I don't think there is any doubt picking up Wood was a coup. He is a much better prospect than Warnock.
Armfield is a shadow of the player he once was. He had a chance to do something tonight, plenty of game time and I am struggling to think of a piece of play he was effective in. Perhaps he will stay in if Ellard, Menzell and Thomas are all injured.
We can take a lot out of this game. Just not the points.

Do you understand what his role was tonight?

Gee I thought he was good. Stopped Taylor running free. Worked hard both ways.

It was a question to see if Hibbo knew.

I agree with you, thought he was good.

I picked out an umpiring decision two minutes before the siren. I reckon it clearly cost us the game.

You are kidding. Did you see the replay? Laid a finger nail across the deltoid in a game where every marking contest and I mean every contest has at least that much contact. And called from 50 metres away when AFL's most senior umpire was 5 metres away and let it go. No perspective.

That is what i mean. The free was there. Contact across the deltoid. Probably shouldnt have been paid in the context of the game but was there. You see that get paid a lot.

Crap decision that clearly cost us the game. Paid seconds after the supposed contact and by an umpire out of the officiating zone for the play. If they keep that theory running the game will descend further into farce than it already is.

One of the worst decisions of the year.

I saw it paid a few times tonight.

Not much to us.

I agree with this. The umps just had a poor night in general. We got some as well. Really poor end to the game but they probably had us anyway. To coin a Bombers trademark... it was a very brave effort!

Pro: We brought the right shorts tonight.

Didn't we wear the dark shorts last time we played them?

Casboult's ideal as a 3rd forward and 2nd ruck, perfect role for him, but hasn't stepped up to key forward in his own right yet as we can see.

Ideally, if we lose Waite then use the money to get Frawley.
