I don't give a shit about what Robbo writes, but plenty of nuff-nuffs who read the "Chief Football Writer's" stories do, and the more SOS's "controversial selection" gets questioned over the years the more it will be accepted as a stuff up and the less SOS will be revered by the greater football community as the Champion that he was.

I was mainly having a go at Aylett for stirring up controversy and his gutless swipes at SOS for no real reason other than to promote one of his clubmen who he thought should have got the gong.

It's a nothing story for sure, but all I want to hear is a non-Carlton person come out and say how much of a gun SOS was and that they got the decision right. I don't believe I've ever heard that.

It was so funny when I was living in Geelong listening to all the Cats supporters try to convince me that Matt Scarlett was a better full back than SOS. When I would mention that SOS played on some of the best FF's of all time in Lockett, Dunstall, Ablett, Modra, Richardson etc. apparently Scarlett had it much harder because he had to play within the rules (i.e. holding on, chopping the arms, hands in the back etc.) whereas SOS was allowed to do whatever he wanted and got away with it! :banghead:

The silence from our Club in response is deafening.
Then again, fair to say they didn't rate the article worthy of a response.

Regards
Pedro.

When the best full forward of all time, Lockett, says it's sos that's good enough for me.

Decision to name Robbo as chief football writer of the Herald Sun was flawed.

All three were guns, SOS's weakness was his disposal which was ordinary, but he was strong as his old man, could take a screamer, great hands, judgement, recovery. The reason i never thought Carey was quite as great as many is that whenever i saw him sos did well on him, kept ablett goaless in a gf and regularly did well on lockett and dunstall, not a bad quartet of fwds to shut down regularly. And being capable of going fwd and kicking a lazy ten puts him ahead i think. Still as others have said Robbo is shallow, dumb, and seems to have a vocab that would have him in trouble conversing with a neanderthal ( which he probably does a bit of down atEssendon). In the crowded race for world's worst footy journo, he has put in a usain bolt like performance. If i was the club i wd be furious at Ayletts lack of integrity and confidentiality and get the afl to tell aylett he will never ever be invited to have input to anything ever again.

Isn't Dench in jail for major league fraud and corruption? I guess he needs something to brighten his day.

It's one persons opinion. All three were great full backs and we are really splitting hairs. In the end SOS was named and deservedly so.

End of story.

While they're at it, they can call him out for the Herald-Sun's pathetic attempt to remove John Nicholls from the team as well, which was clearly driven by Mark "Slobbo" Robinson.
