I aggree the Dominator should be voted in, but you can't base it on Premierships. In that respect, Gary Ablett Snr would never get in.

Kouta is 2 x time All-Australian, 2 x Club B&F (how he didn't win it in 2000 is beyond me) and an AFL MVP (which i rate higher than a brownlow as it's based on votes from Players and not stupid biased Umpires ala Diesel 93').

He very much deserved the induction.

Like Synbad said, at his best he was the best ive ever seen, and that includes Judd.

I get it Ryan and agree he's deserving but did you ever see Wayne Johnston play live?

The premierships (and his significant role in them) are one thing but I saw a generation of significant games where he lifted us over the top and I never wanted the ball in anyone's hands other than his.

We talk about Carlton's Premiership 3rd quarters in the early 80's, Wayne Johnston was the catalyst.

The Dominator was my first favourite player. The quintessential big game player. But we shouldn't hijack this thread. It's a great honour for Kouta and well deserved. They talk about Voss, Hird and Buckley but fail to acknowledge the fact that Kouta at his best tore them all new arseholes. In full flight he was unstoppable and could do things that other players simply cannot. Well done Kouta!

Dominator would tear games apart...and in finals would do the same BUT at a higher level.
Kouta was the best player I've ever seen..could do anything...played every position on the ground except umpire ..and when he was firing the umpire didn't matter.

Go kouta

(Also lovely guy...he had an idiot manager...but Kouta was too polite to reign him in)

1947 premiership captain Ern Henfry was also admitted last night.

Quote:
Henfry, who died in 2006 at the age of 85, was recognised for leading Carlton to the flag in his first year at the club, as well as two best and fairests and a distinguished career with Perth in the WAFL.

Now, I know nothing about him and am not saying he's not worthy, but how they pick him out 67 years after his finest achievement, and 8 years after his passing, when so many others to have played since get overlooked, is difficult to comprehend.

But anyway, he's a Carlton man, so stuff em.

Kouta could do things that I've never seen any other player do.

I've said it before but sometimes it felt as though it was: "Koutoufides marks in the defensive goal-square and pumps the ball long to Koutoufides who takes a good mark and plays on, running it through the middle taking three bounces before handballing to Koutoufides just inside the centre square who kicks long to the top of the goal-square............KOUTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Koutoufides takes a huge mark in the square and will line up for his third."

Incidentally, anyone else see the Today Show's report on the HoF?
Over and over they played seven or eight clips of Kouta taking marks and kicking goals, and one 3 second grab of Tredrea going down with what looked like a hamstring

I have my reservations about him as a great clubman but he was definitely a great player and I got a huge amount of pleasure from watching him.

As others have mentioned the criteria is somewhat skewed when Kouta gets in before Wayne Johnston or Ken Hunter.

Johnston was a quadruple premiership player who could/should have won two Norm Smith Medals.

Line that up against Kouta's career and it's a little sad that he's not yet recognised as one of the greats of the game by the game itself.

As for the five per year thing - every year there are about five great players who come put of each draft. Five added to the hall of fame should be fine but at the moment they're playing catchup with the history of the game so it's way out of whack.

Vote 1 - Dominator for Hall of Fame.

Hear hear - Wayne Johnston should be in by now, maybe next year when "The Spew" has nothing to do with it.

Mark Maclure was being very modest too when he said on AFL360 he wasn't good enough to be in the AFL Hall of Fame.

Kouta's best was the best we've seen. Those 13 weeks in 2000 (and the last qtr of the 99 prelim) were a pleasure to see.

Unfortunately we didn't see enough of it as we'd have liked.

Congratulations to both Kouta and Ern Henfry.

Just caught a glimpse of the end of Kouta's speech from the presentation...he was absolutely stoked. Great to see someone truly appreciate an honour like that.

Was just about to change the channel and they had the little video package for Ern Henfry...a man I've never heard of. Just goes to show there are great stories in our past and we should all take more time to learn about them. The little video package was great, and his son was just so proud that his dad was being recognised.

If you get the chance to watch the Kouta presentation which is the first on the Hall of fame, do it!

Superb.

Vince Collosimo tells his story of the great man Kouta. Brilliant.

Worth a Wookie.

Maybe The Dominator will get to Legend status straight up.

The Dom was in another sphere.
