I have no point, just stirring the pot really. You're letting your dislike of Judd cloud your thinking. The article was actually quite interesting and illuminating and all you got out of it was "totally a closed shop and an introvert was our captain for 5 years".

Who's doing themselves no favours?

I wouldn't follow anyone off a cliff...that would be rather stupid.

i often wonder whats going on in peoples heads when they get angry when somebody says
*chris judd should run 2 ways
* chris judd is a robot
*sticks kernahan isnt president material
*bret ratten shouldnt never have been given the coaches job on the back of he hadnt done the right training.
*carlton is no longer the club it used to be

proves my point about emotions...
but these are misdirected

You don't like him as a footballer.

Nobody said you hate him.

Thanks for appreciating my pot stirring

Well he was just a kid and place was positive and thriving, can't deny him fond memories ? Of is that a fault too?
I'm proud that he came across and the great vision in getting him over to us should be obvious by now?
A great champion of the game and will always be so no matter when he played , if only we could have had three of him.
Ciao

I can agree with that.
He has his deficiencies and plenty of people are willing to ignore them given what he's achieved in the game.

surely a great footballer is not a perfect footballer, rather someone whose +'s outdo his -'s?

Never sought to be skipper of WCE or us.

But took on the role because that's what both clubs needed.

The interview is nothing new.

I wish Carlton were in a position where Chris Judd was the biggest problem at our club ...

Interesting

Footy not really fun. Yeah I can see that. I don't know how these champs get up emotionally each week when they know they are going to get bashed and pummelled and hurt and abused. I think you've really gotta be a bogan street fighter type to enjoy that.

Fear of failure the motivator. Interesting that at his level that still drives him.

His self professed peak, career highlights, best he has played with, and inspirations are all from his West Coast days. Understandable, but a little sad. His heart is with West Coast

Collingwood must have been close. That makes me even more happy. Hope Eddie reads that

He picked Carlton partly because we were a bottom side and he wanted to be involved with the resurgence. That's gotta be bullshit unless his ego is bigger than I thought. It was the chauffeur driven Rolls from the airport and the dinner at Raheen with the string quartet and the Visy offer that clearly got us over the line. (Compare that with Ratts's attempts to lure Bradshaw and Rischetelli by showing them around a rubble strewn building site in his tracky dacks)

He is reserved and guarded which makes many not warm to him. But he has provided me with the greatest pleasure watching Carlton over the last 7 years. I love him.

I think he has a stronger emotional bond with Carlton than the WCE.

Nah, I just think it highlights how crap we are.

Judd's views on the game and the way he motivates himself are what has made him great. You can't have 40 players on your list who all see footy as a job and deliberately try to diversify their interests so they don't get swept up in the game. If your whole list is like that you'll end up with a fairly bland football team. But if you put the right mix around a guy like Judd you'll be fine. Actually you'll be better than fine, you'll be extremely successful, just like WC were. Carlton's struggles aren't because of Judd or the way he views the game, the problem is the mixture around him.
