Good thread
Careful not to create too many new conversations for interested folk to partake in else Rhino the Enforcer will give you a backhander for so called redundant behavior

Thanks Sugarcane

I know there has been alot of talk around who to keep/delist etc but i didn't see a thread that outlined all the players that are out of contract this year for conversation (besides the contract status thread)

Juddy should play on in 2015. Jamison has just signed! Yes gun
Lucas should be given another contract but I doubt it, same with Boots. Yes but micky doesn't think so
Hopefully we sign Graham up soon as well. Yes needs smart development
Carrazzo is still in our best 22 and 1 of our leaders - no problem with another year. No Curnow has taken over and doesn't add much to our side any more

also like Lucas but he needs a rocket.

Still waiting for your 'Should we have delisted Sam Pleming?' poll.

@#$%&! I hate that line of thinking. As for Waite...one year deal is fine. If we pick up a young key forward who can play straight away...could be good value.

For me it's if his body and mind is up to it. If it is I hope he plays, any doubt no.

As for Waite, I put him in the same bracket as Carrots. My concern is their bodies just aren't up to it anymore.

..don't mind it being up to Judd, but I think it's fair to say he'd knock back my top offer of 350/400.. ..I think over the journey he has done very well, and now that would be my take it or leave it offer.. ....as for Waite, if his back keeps playing up this year, then no.. ..and if he is smart, he wouldn't want to either..

Once Gibbs, Menz & Yazz sign, I'm not fussed what happens to the rest. If mick wants them they can stay otherwise they're all on the table for the right price.

Carrots still contracted.

Similar view of Waite. If there's better options out there, all for moving him on. If not - could do worse in the Scotland role.

one of the keys to successfully rebuilding a team is to ensure the transition to the new generation is done as seamlessly as possible. This includes keeping the right senior players in the team while the younger players gain experience and become better players

can't simply delist or retire all your experience and expect the team not suffer badly in the short term. In fact it could irrevocably ruin the younger players development

in my view, I would not offer Waite or Scotland another contract

I believe Carazzo is contracted next year, otherwise he would be in the same boat

from the older players only Judd and Simmo would offer value beyond this year, that's on the proviso Judd is interested in playing on and on a reasonable salary

I'm pretty sure the jury is out on Judd providing value...unless I'm missing something?

Would you confidently say he's not in the top 50 AFL players now? Top 100? Has he fallen so far this year after not playing?

Personally, I like him for his quick hands, ability to get his arms free, and his anticipation and one touch ability around stoppages. I don't think he would've lost those attributes in the off season and through his recent leg injuries.

Reckon he's got a bit to offer as a mid still.

Tend to agree but for a reasonable slice of the cap only

Crikey, he's the same age as hodge, Mitchell, bartel etc, only 30

Depends how broken his body is I guess

Top 50 players? Who the @#$%&! cares? Can he play a non-midfield role IF (as I believe) a permanent midfield role is past him in 2015? I say no.

Judd is a victim of his own greatness. We class him in a league that very few can ever aspire to. He is not just elite he is in the elite of the elite. Therefore we dont judge him fairly imho. He is no longer in that top bracket, he has come back to the pack a bit, but he still has a huge amount to offer and is still better than most midfielders going around. Lets not forget the pressure he takes off murphy and now gibbs and our other midfielders, if he is playing...opposition let judd off the leash at there peril. I agree that a figure around 450 k is more appropriate, judd may not agree, and whether he continues will have a lot to do with a. How is the next two years going to be for our club and b. What other opportunities are out there for him.

..he is an inside mid.. ..I think he is still a very good inside mid, high fitness and work ethic will keep him with a lot of minutes inside, then rest fp and bench.. ..but, the question is how much wear an Ter.. ..he has taken more of ä battering than his peers over the journey..

Yeah look I love youse all and that but top 50 would place in the top two or three midfielders at the club. Or would you say that McLean has overtaken him? Bell? Perhaps Cripps?

I'm just not seeing this whole 'he's past it in 2015'. Based on what? Because he did his hamstring? He's been pretty durable outside of this year for us, I would've thought. Do you really truly deeply think, re BKB's suggestion of resting him forward, that he'd be given no respect by his opponent?

Perhaps it's as Padre said; we simply can't judge him rationally because he was - for a time - the best of the best.
