I think we are no good, though I'm forever hopeful we will turn a corner at some point.

I just disagree with the notion that endlessly repeating yourself on a internet fan forum will result in change.

That's crazy talk !

What if Kernahan comes online and reads one conversation topic, and one only?>
We need to make sure we repeat our views at least once per page on every topic!!!

Otherwise Sticks might not see, and we might miss an opportunity to be the club's saviour !!

I think Blue Vain described me best.
I'm the resident cheap shot artist. (Who has never posted anything worthwhile)

I'm not sure how that has anything to do with the euphoria of ecstacy.

Anyways. Really like most of you I have very little of inside knowledge / value to add and find myself pointing out / making a joke of obvious tripe.

If I cop a whack from those who think repeating the same old rubbish over and over again on an Internet forum is the way to solve the Clubs problems, so be it.

Members don't vote in the President because the clubs' constitution says so.

11.1 The Board shall appoint one of its number to the position of President and may appoint up to 3 of its members as Vice Presidents.

Is that a good thing? Yes. If you've ever been to an AGM or gone on an internet forum, you'd have seen first hand the number of people who know @#$%&! all about the club. You cannot have a situation whereby a Brendan Fevola became President of the club, though many would argue that we've had just that since 2008.

Put simply - Kernahan has been a 'puppet' President. Those who crave a return to the Dick Pratt days ought to be careful what they wish for. Whether Dick Pratt lived or died, we'd be in the same predicament we are now. While both Pratt and Bruce Mathieson had previously sat on the board - being a part of a democratic process didn't suit them. Imagine being in control of Visy (close to $6billion net worth) or being Bruce Mathieson ($745million) and sitting at a board meeting where you weren't in control. Where the likes of Adrian Gleeson had the same powers as you? Oh dear....that might work for a while - but not long term. Pratt 'didn't want to contribute money - he wanted to contribute ideas'. Mathieson's pokie donation - while generous - is a financial model that ties us to him from the comfort of his $18 million Gold Coast home and comes with a stipulation that nephew Craig sits on the board as 'Uncle Bruce's mouthpiece'.

But what changes with LoGuidice or Trainor? Well - both are pretty good operators. LoGuidice is a Mathieson appointment and has been around the club for a very long time. Ryan Trainor isn't an appointment by the Pratt or Mathiesons' - his entrepreneurial know-how has long been needed by the club - but whether he is served better as President remains to be seen. Chairing a Marketing Committee that had cart blanche with decisions of that nature might be more apt. Is the appointment of either of these two merely a stop-gap before Craig Mathieson takes the reigns? I hope not.

And what of the football sub-committee? Currently served by Adrian Gleeson, Marcus Clarke, Craig Mathieson and Greg Lee. Wow...how depressing. It needs a massive shake-up...as does this entire club. I won't be surprised to see a challenge. But it has to be done the right way. Perhaps waiting until Mike Fitzpatrick leaves the Commission post-2015? I don't know...the only thing I do know is that supporters shouldn't have to put up with incompetence and they shouldn't have to put up with two wealthy families branch stacking the board and having vested interest in the club purely for hobby.

NB - All current board members (bar one) are supporters of the 'Mathieson model' to pay off the clubs' debt.

Bob Carr is free, at least at the end of his presidency, there will be a book in it.

So I guess that means Tony abbott is a puppet prime minister.

The board suffers from competence issues but plunging into conspiracy theories is just crazy and now claiming the constitution is rigged is far fetched
Do you have a problem with La Guidace or Trainor?
Why hasn't anyone else stood? No one's stopping them
At the end of the day we members get the representation we deserve by virtue of our vote.
Maybe you should stand. You might surprise yourself and win which would debunk all the myth makers on this site

yeah abbott is a puppet
look what he does for corporations ...

and look what he will be doing when hes retired.

there are always the faceless men (plus jeannie) pulling at the strings in the background

remember the portrait... sums us up

what is hanging on the wall.. is a crook who is remembered for his money

hardly what i call good idea..

pay homage to this portrait.. and only his....

and yes they are stacked by the Oligarchs . thats why noone else comes

Like u say..... and keep reminding us... were supposed to be perpetually thankful and grateful into all time....

u said it

Help me out here oh wise one...Where does it say in my post that the constitution is rigged? It actually says - if you bothered to read the post - that it's a good idea having the board members vote for a President.

I don't have a problem with Ryan Trainor. Know him personally. Like him a lot.

You're not very bright if you can't figure out why no one else has stood.

Your fourth line is a little worrying Michael. How many times as a member have you voted for a board member in the last 6 years?

Fifth line even more worrying. You can only defend the status quo for so long Michael.
