He said it in 2012 & 2013. If he really cares he'd bloody well do something about it. Dial a quote.

It's nothing new and he has been saying it for a while. The fact is he's right.

However, my question still remains what are we doing about it?

IMO the situation we are in is caused by two factors:

1. Poor Recruiting
2. Poor Coaching

Nothing else.

Everyone we recruited who was coached by Ratten and Co have never reached the level expected. They came is as kids, were taught a very ballistic unaccountable style of football. The mistake was putting an untried, inexperienced coach in charge of kids. Both learning on job had disaster written all over it.

Now MM is trying to get them playing a more "finals" type they struggle.

If we can play 4 qtrs a week of what we produced in the 1st qtr last week we will be okay. If not big changes need to happen.

I don't understand why Bruce is restating this in the middle of the member campaign. The media loves it. SEN is talking about nothing but how bad Carlton are. KB has the biggest erection of the year. This is stupid Bruce - you are only damaging the club.

Not only is it our recruiting between 2009 and 2011 that has devastated our list, but go back to the Pagan years when we were down the bottom and had plenty of high Draft picks. Apart from Gibbs, Murphy and Kreuzer, other TOP TWENTY Picks were wasted on Grigg, Hampson, Bower, Russell. Add to that High picks wasted on Lucas, Watson, Bootsma (and swapping Pick 11 for Brock), and really its no argument. That's 7 players that bneing first rounders, should ve been cemented in our team by now, but instead, they re either already long gone or kicking back in the Reserves.

We ve been saying the same stuff about our recruiting for years. Wayne Hughes and his obsession with half back flankers was ridiculed by supporters for years, yet we still persisted with him. Our list now, is a result of his 'tremendous work'.

Dare we say it.... IS it time to strip back and 'rebuild' ?

C'mon Mikkey, SEN & KB? Talk about irrelevant.

How is it damaging the club? Sometimes to get better you need to admit you have a problem and in regards to Recruiting I'm not sure we have addressed it yet.

I said this last year and will say it again. We have a massive opportunity.

The opportunity we have is to pinch some of the guns from the GWS and the Gold Coast. Richmond got Miles for nothing (rookie draft). There will be more players like that who drop off as the list at GWS must shrink and players will be disgruntled that they are not getting a regular game. Miles was one of them. Smashed the door down in the 2’s but was not one of the favourites. We need to get in the ear of these players. If we can land a couple of quality young players in the rookie draft (don’t draft Wood) and draft well with our lower picks, we can bounce back quickly.

We are a shambles our recruiting our leadership our development and this is exactly how we project as a shambles. Leaving kernahan and hughes in charge for so long really shows how the powers at be have no idea. As supporters we have been highlighting this exact issue for 10 years

The Elliott era continued the previous Rice and Harris era of buying a chasing "one or two big names", that was attempted to solve the Club's problems. Saviors such as: Pratt, Pagan, Judd, Malthouse & Thomas.

The Kernahan era has been the same as the Elliott era and has been a failure.

Statements like "we are Carlton" for the 150th year is lazy and not helpful. It implies looking at history rather than putting things in the place for the future and executing Premiership success.

Since the introduction of the AFL, we have been a failure.

Footy followers read the HS and listen to SEN. Negative stories cost memberships. If we win the next 3 games it might not matter, but it's right now you sell memberships. Bruce was just on SEN and so negative. If you were in doubt if to buy a membership and you hear this..... He even talked down Menzel and Cripps as nothing special.

Alastair Clarkson, Mark Thompson & John Worsfold all first time coaches and all won flags with young sides. This we must get the best from somewhere else is typical Carlton old out dated thinking. Develop the best simple.

They'll all ask to go to Hawthorn...

I said it before. Everybody knows the problem. Bruce said it before. Nobody doubts that Demons and us have been the worst recruiters. But why bring this up now? You should listen to the radio talk back now. Do you think getting fewer members will help the club ? I know there are a lot of people who delight in negativity but it won't improve the club.

Damaging the brand right now by looking back is not what is needed.

Headline in the news with grab from Bruce: no chance of success the next 4 years and Bulldogs a much better list.

The quicker we get SOS to the blues the better our opportunity will be

I am sure Williams had a lot do with getting Miles to Richmond for nothing

And it continues with one negative caller after the other. This will continue all day on SEN and then the news on 7 and 9 then 360. This will cost many memberships and loss of brand value.

All this for a problem everybody at the club is aware of. It will not change anything. Well done Bruce, hope you are happy.

The Carlton brand was lost and losing significance since the end of Elliott era, through the Pratt era and now through the Kernahan era....

The AFL community laugh at us now...

Its a bloody tragedy...

People still listen to SEN?

Of course there are issues with our recruiting but you also have to consider coaching and development.

I used to laugh at ex-Collingwood people making statements about their club in public, just to grab a headline and feel they will never progress until that stops and are all on the same page working behind closed doors together ...... well flower me.

There is a salary cap on players.

There is (as yet) no salary cap on footy departments or administration. One truism Pratt said. Pay and get the best.

Look at what the successful clubs are doing, make offers their key guys cannot refuse and bring them in.

Have our key supporters put money where their mouth is.

If we can build the off field then the on field will come sooner than we think.

As a start, Ryan Trainor for prez. NOW.
