Swan should clarify his statement to make it clear that his comments referred to Essendon*'s use of WADA prohibited drugs such as AOD9064 which meets the conventional definition of cheating in sport, but that he understands that Essendon* considers it has not cheated because its use of these drugs only occurred as a result of institutional incompetence rather than malicious intent.

Do not apologise to these vucknuckles. Essendon* should be shamed, and crawl back to their hole. Their PR machine has duped many, but I say call their bluff, and ask for other clubs to back them up. EFC* have gone rogue - they need to be shot down!

Tell them to take it to court and prove they didn't cheat.

Apparently they've lodged a demand with us last Tuesday, but we haven't bothered responding. Must be busy at the moment with something.

Let it drag on, and the day it goes to court let them know that we apologised in a letter but it seems they must have misplaced it.....

A statement from Greg Swann should do it:

"I'd like to clarify my comments made on SEN the other day, when I referred to Carlton being permitted to enter this year's finals series as a result of Essendon*'s cheating.

I retract this comment and would like to take this opportunity to clarify the club's position on this.

Essendon* did not cheat. They were expelled from this year's finals series for engaging in a pharmacologically experimental program engaged in and implemented by their staff on the playing group, without sufficient checks and balances to ensure that it was conducted fairly, ethically, safely or legally. It was conducted on a scale never seen before in the history of this great game and deservedly resulted in the heaviest sanctions ever enforced by the league. Noting that this sanctions were implemented as part of a settlement with the Essendon* Football Club for their cooperation with the investigation process, one can only imagine what the full extent of penalties may have been if the hearing before the AFL Commission was allowed to run its full course.

The distinction of my position on these matters is important and I thank the Essendon* Football Club for allowing me the opportunity."

We have heard Brian Cook, Richard Colless and Peter Gordan speak on the matter and send a similar message and not get into hot water.

He should clarify his statement - he meant they cheated themselves by running an amateur club. Governance!

How are they gonna prove they didnt cheat when they don't keep records.
Onus is on them to prove they didn't cheat and were defamed.
