The first man with his name on the #40 locker.

Q. Who was the games record holder in #40 before Jamison?

Someone referred to playing Sydney as getting an audit conducted. Fair description I would have thought.

Sydney vs Adelaide was probably 7 goals ahead of anything else put on show this season by any team. Total domination in every facet. we'll be doing well not to have the 17 point margin as a biggest loss extended significantly.

What I don't get is that in early games you could see the Swans struggle with fatigue.

Two months on they are running harder than everyone except probably FREO.

Is this because they had achieved this base in previous years and it's easier to re-establish or just got fitter as the years progressed.?

I think they simply work themselves into seasons and time their run of best form better than others. Their disdain of the pre-season circus is legendary, and for memory their W/L ratio in second half vs first half of seasons over the last decade is significantly higher. Professional outfit in every respect.

They also had GWS and GC to play in the first 2 rounds so they could ease into their preparation.

I have a spare ticket....anyone interested? It'll only set you back $30 and you'll have the rare chance to hear me cheer on Michael Jamison (100 games deserves no less)...and also sit near some other fine individuals from this site. I'll even throw in a beer (or seeing as we're at the SCG - a Chardonnay). Your call. PM if interested.

Carlton by 1 point. After the siren... (a dubious free kick is paid to Eddie Betts in the goal square with seconds left on the clock).

Got a feeling we can win this.
We can match them at the contests
We just need to iron out some execution by our outside runners at key moments
Blues by 13 points

Be one of the most fascinating team selections I can remember for a long time : Yarran or no Yarran?

Personally, unless he pulls the finger out in the next Bullants game, (which I assume is this weekend, but I haven't checked), then I'd say "No Yarran".

Agreed. McInnes in for Bootsma as well.

I'd like to see that...

and if MM persists with Lucas... make him sub

I'm going too.
After the game, back to the Olympic Hotel where 2 years ago, there was the hottest barmaid I've ever seen in Australia.

Wish list.

Out: Murphy Bootsma Rowe

In: Yarran Carrots McInnes

Don't know why, but don't see it with Rowe. Seems very uncoordinated maybe?

Probably jumping the gun with McInnes but loved him last year, knew he'd make it the second Collingwood game.

Carrots is great in the clinches (and runs hard both ways) so he'll be a handy addition to the middle.

Lucas/Yarran/Garlett/Betts as subs. Bring someone on with some dash.

Carrots, Curnow, Brock, Gibbs, Cachia and Judd. Wouldn't have picked that as our midfield at the start of the year.

(my god it's slow on paper too)

This is how I look at the Yarran situation.

He was made sub. For mine the sub is the bloke whose spot in the team is most in question. Maybe you could argue that there's other reasons such as match-ups etc, but you won't see any of your top performers being made sub. Whether or not his recent performances warranted this is another matter. This is how the selectors viewed his form and that's the assessment that counts.

He came on and didn't play well.

From what I saw of the Bullants last week he wasn't particularly impressive.

If he repeats the effort this weekend I don't see how you could justify bringing him in. Actually change that - I don't see how the selectors could justify bringing him back in.

I wouldn't even play Yarran in the magoos this week. He'll no doubt get a run - but I'm not sure what purpose it serves.
