what that little snippet doesn't show (happens just before the start of this clip) is Murphy's eyes on the ball and Hodge seeing Murphy. Hodge took the shot .

its obvious... its beautifully camouflaged and its all in the timing... but i didnt have to see it a second or third time to know what happened.. it was all there in living color..he came in with the shoulder having peeked up at murphy.

usually those incidents where two guys are going for the ball .. theyre totaly focussed on the ball and there is a collision.

what a coincidence murphys face on hodges shoulder......

Murphy has every right to attack the contest with his head over the pill and he deserves protection for doing so.
Its funny how we see some posters questioning his hardness yet this incident and the one last year against Dangerfield show Murphy goes as hard as anyone in the game.
Gutsy effort. He knew he was going to cop heavy contact yet he didn't flinch.

There is no question murph is being challenged physically...... and i thin that is becaiuse teams think we are soft

As I have said in previous posts it was intentional by Hodge to take out Murph. Nothing wrong with the way Murph attacks the footy. It would be good if someone else we know Synners did that.

That’s exactly it. The intention is there, it was clear in real time. But the camouflage is the key in the hit. A thug like hodge saw the opportunity and made the most of it. Its either in you DNA or it’s not. For Murphy (and virtually all on our list) it is not...

I'd be disappointed if we didn't do the same to a key midfielder in general play given the opportunity.

He 'shouldn't' go... but the AFL says he should. Head high, elected to initiate, hit him flush in the head with severe force and broke his cheek. High impact, In play, High Contact 4762.84 activation points with a 12% loading for a friday night and 6.25% discount for wearing yellow shoelaces.

Agree with blue vain -great post - a gutsy effort by murph and should have been protected by the umpires in respect to head high contact -

Of course he should of been Frank. I wonder what they would of been saying if someone like Waite had done this.

I don't think it was just bad luck, Hodge knew what he was doing which is why you can see he raised his shoulder and elbow. He wanted to go in hard and at the player. Murphy went in lower with a sole intention to win the ball, while Hodge had two intentions. Go the player and the ball.

Big difference between Dangerfield's and Hodge's hit. Dangerfield was actually there first and Murph came off 2nd best. That happens, no hit in the head there, just tough footy. I've already said what I think of Hodge's and I've seen nothing that will change my mind.

"Does Marc Murphy need to change the way he attacks the ball?"

Yes, he needs to start running through packs with his elbow in the air and then he'll be called "tough"

He also accelarated into it, really picked up speed to lay the hurt.

Not really. Just the way it goes in this comp.

We need to collect footage of the "so called tough Hodge acts" and make sure our players learn to use them correctly moving forward now as well. If the AFL suspend any of our players, we need to escalate with footage in hand within court of law. Simple.

F?%k%n joke but not surprised. The media hung Juddy out to dry and they saved Hodge's arse.

I think Murphy was the lucky one here, he should've been rubbed out for headbutting Hodges shoulder

copped your right whack Murphy you filthy bugger, you have history and fancy targeting an opoosition captain to boot..................

well it might as well been something like that as Hodge is being made out to be the victim, I heard a snippet of a radio interview on the TV with him, give me a break (no pun intended with the break bit either)

as if it matters if hodge gets weeks.
hes done his damage.
they won the game
hodge getting weeks does not help us next time we play them

our captain was sent to hospital no remonstrations
robbo gets smashed into the fence by two hawks nothing
henderson cops an elbow to the chops nothing again....
thats just on the back of what they always do to us.... it will continue to happen unless we do the same

before the game dermie said and im paraphrasing but he said this.. "everyone knows carlton is soft.. stkilda won against them because they bullied them"....

dermie knows what the hawks think of us..... and e very team....

if hodge got 3 weeks it wouldnt mean jack to us.. the damage was done and we didnt do anything ON THE FIELD!!!

tribunal like guerra last year???

pfffft

ground hog day again next time boys... mark it down...!!!

oh and and i wouldnt be at all surprised if someone else gets sniped soon....(even if its camouflaged beautifully to make it look like an accident)
