When will we be man enough to win a contest like this?

Even Richmond have beaten Hawthorn!

I actually thought (now that I have almost calmed down) that with fair umpiring we would have won this. eddie's snap when he should have handballed, and curnows miss could have still won it.

so I thought we did well tonight and showed enough to think we are on the right track.

even rowe and lucas were ok.

but can someone tell my why Mitchell wasn't free-kicked for that one-handed throw? was a free poaid against waite?

Yes. To Lake. In the back I think.

and have just seen replay of mick's interview with richo - nice pasting of umpiring without even mentioning them.
also nice hatchet job on hodge - bloke gets broken jaw from hit with shoulder and not even a free kick.
nice message to match review panel to make sure they don't miss it

Promising sign that even against flag favourites I wanted stoppages because I was confident we could win them.
Gibbs, Judd & Cachia exceptional tonight in & around packs.

Gibbs surprised me that he didn't just get it on the boot to get it fwd, he ran, dodged, gained metres before putting disposing.

How many frees did they get in the last? Frees were 9-8 in our favour at half time from memory and ended up 13-22. Shame we lost need to put on more scoreboard pressure when we had majority of the possessions. I don't like having a go at the umpires but 4 frees in the second half to 14 come on.

Just really lacking depth. Playing good footy but relying on too few.

Gibbs & Simmo were fantastic.

Bootsma will be good but not ready for current role. Play wing.

Rowe in defence or nothing. Please give Laidler a go. His kicking and third up work is missed.

Missed Murphy badly. Thought Lucas was good.

Carrazzo, Graham, Bell, McInnes, Menzel, Yarran, Ellard will improve that side.

Gibbs after his first squib really stepped up tonight, should squash a few people perceptions.

Laidler and Bell won't make us better moving forward.

We need to concentrate on a fnisher or two.
Yarran is one.. but he was dropped and that dropping gave us a harder edge tonight... and hopefully Yarran will become a better player for it.

Daisy was dropped for 4 weeks by MM and he came back a more commited footballer.

I do believe he didnt drop Lucas but benched him as to not show he was blaming him for last weeks loss.. !!!... it is not true he cost us the game.. its true.. he finds it difficult to stand up in battle. feeble attempts and often falls to ground to be out of the contest

so in the back against waite over a throw by Mitchell? of course how silly of me. thought the throw came first then the ITB. but what would you expect on a night like that

We are 5% away from being a top team. Really annoying that we are in a winning position every time to then lose it. Concerned about our fitness. Casboult had no marks in the second half. Last week he was reamed in the ruck in the second half. Mitchell got away from Brock in the last qtr etc. I think we need to look at our fitness program.

We played 100 mins
We dont kick well enough
Disagree on Rowe. He gets to the right position and of all our big men is the best kick for goal
Give him a year to build strength and will be very handy

Casboult can't run them out at present....big bloke, not much senior footy. Plenty to like....but those set shots.....

Yeah give it watch. I am usually someone who doesn't watch a loss if I miss the game but I reckon you should take a look at this one.

Some good signs.

Need more bang for our buck when we are dominating. Later we are always going to fade out if we play the way we do early so if we don't get the score on the board you know we are in trouble. Need to push that dominance out for longer. Fitness or a better balance of running players? I don't know but we cant keep doing what we do if it is an inefficient way to play. Tweak it. Get a couple of other modes of play.

Maybe a predictable outcome but best game I've seen for a long time.

Closest thing we've played to finals football that I can remember.
