Why is Graham having surgery now? Seems odd timing.

wasnt injured in pre-season cant have surgury when nothing wrong. The injury by the sounds of it occured after playing a few games.

That's why I asked because I had no idea he was actually injured and it was made to sound like the clean up players get at end of season.

Probably because he's a young kid (wouldn't getting many senior games) and it is a sign of better injury management i.e. for the long term.

3 year contract signed mid 2012 wasn't it? We certainly couldn't believe it - he must be pinching himself.

Can anybody tell me what's wrong with Waite? Calf I am lead to believe...Has anyone tracked his pre-season and can tell me if he at any stage was in good physical shape? Also, is anyone else a bit surprised to see him in the leadership group? He has hardly been on the park in recent years and when he has been is often undisciplined.

Round 1 he surely wont be fit....any idea when?

Also, do we have a forward issue at the club?

Just assume that Waite is injured, and every now and again get a pleasant surprise to see him out there. It's easier that way.

Great job Wookie. I wonder if the Club has a tool that provides such a great snapshot. (they do now) Nice work.

Should I also assume that we will not be flag contenders this year without him???

Maybe.
I don't think we're flag contenders with, or without, him. Unless a handful of genuine contenders have a cursed season, injury-wise. Waite's body is cooked, so we can't look to him as any kind of reliable forward presence. How many years has it been since he's managed a full season? I can barely remember.

Anyway, injuries clearly play a huge part in a team's fortunes. So I hope this thread is a wasteland of non-postings as the season progresses

Contenders being.......Hawks, Weagles, Crows..............Blues.

If Jarrad is put in cotton wool/rested 3:1 ratio....we are in with a chance. Who do you look to as a ''reliable forward presence"?

Waite gets injured doing warmups at training. I'd love it if we could intelligently manage his workload so we could plan around his presence at the pointy end of the season, but history tells us his body is wholly unreliable.

Hawthorn, West Coast, Adelaide, Sydney, Collingwood.......... then a bunch of clubs including us. We'll see about who are the contenders once we're 10 games in and the pattern of the season (injury-wise) is panning out.

We don't have a reliable forward presence. We have a reliable forward in Betts, but not a single reliable marking forward. We're talking about Casboult (who's played what, 5 games?) Rowe (0 games) and some combination of Kruezer and Hampson, neither of whom are proven forwards.

If we don't pull a reliable key forward out of our collective rectum, we won't be winning flags anytime soon.

Along with who will be our next Captain, who will be our next forward is a VERY interesting debate.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Levi_Casboult

Just reading Levi's Wiki, he hasn't had it easy. With a bit of luck, which might be soon, we might be seeing a lot of good things from the lad this year.

Go Blues!
