Bizarre appointment.
What are his strengths that make him a suitable coach??
Ling, Black, Bolton, Mcleod all say no, we end up with Brad Green

he said yes. and, yeah, he comes from the great culture of Melbourne.

The culture that beat us to the GF in 2000 thanks to brad green? We aren't much better than Melbourne by the way, short memories.

Give the bloke a chance.

I reckon the list of so-so players that were regarded as uninspiring assistant coach selections at one stage, only to turnout good, would be very long.

I have never met Brad, know nothing about his skills outside of playing for Melbourne,
have no idea if he can communicate to players or not,
whether he's got a clue or not...
in fact I really do not know much about him at all,
so

I think he'll be shit.

Unfortunately I was not part of the interview panel.

Therefore I would have NFI if he was any good or not

They could at least let us know who the (at least) 6th in line choice was?

If he has the ability to get our players to dispose of the ball in a similar manner to him in his playing days, then i will be very happy with the appointment.

I'll also add that Mick spent time with him with the international rules team from 2010, so it doesn't appear to be just a blind selection..

Not happy.

We need more jobs for the boys and ex-Collingwood players.

Did anyone else apply for this position ?
Who did he beat, to be appointed this role ?
Did the club go through a process to achieve their decision on going Green?
Did Malthouse say this is ok ?

I think from now on Carlton should conduct all interviews, appointments etc through this website.

Thanks.

You can't equate a playing career to how someone will coach.

Lets see how it goes before we judge.

The overwhelming amount of successful coaches that were nuggety back pocket players says otherwise. Another overwhelming component is that they were all known for their on-field aggression/hardness (Worsfold, Voss, Scotts, etc.)

Not too many fit the criteria of soft, outside receiver types. Only one I can think of is Terry Wallace in recent memory. Eade maybe, although perhaps unfair.

Then again, we just got rid of a nuggety back pocket as coach...
