I like the sound of this bit:

Quote:
Wiley's brief is two-fold. Firstly, to assist members of the Carlton coaching fraternity in implementing Malthouse's edict on the training track "so that we train the way Mick wants us to play" and secondly, to assist with the development of all listed Carlton senior players - with emphasis on "all".

Be nice if he could start this year ... (notwithstanding previous committments such as those with the media, promotional book tours or family holidays which are understandibly unbreakable).

Yeah - I was just having a crack at our million dollar coach who seems to have a lot of better things to do.

October's good for Wiley.

Yeah - I suppose I can see the funny of it too.
But I don't know Cimm .... I've got a bad feeling about the whole MM thing.
(Hopefully I'm way wrong).

Me as well.

I hope he can get clear of the distractions pretty quick because the footy world never stops. I would think that he'd be involved other facets and not just coaching, such as list issues, recruitment issues and drafting.

He will have a fair bit of intellectual property that should come in handy.

Those potting MM may consider that he probably has an agreement with Collingwood on the exact date he can start coaching another club

Apologies if this has been mentioned, but apparently Juddy was over the moon with Wiley's appointment and rang him immediately to tell him so. MM quoted this in a 3AW interview. The guy obviously has plenty of street cred in AFL circles and that's encouraging.

I reckon we would've heard about it by now if that was the case.

I don't mean to come across as potting MM, but IMO the coach should be setting the example and all I've heard from him so far is all the things in his life that come ahead of his coaching duties. Hopefully all this is forgotten once he gets underway.

There are personal committments and then there are contractual committments.

Malthouse is in the media and has other things he has to deal with.

We have no idea about the restraint clause in Malthouse's Collingwood agreement so without knowing this, it's a bit speculative.
