Might be an idea to just set this one up as a poll SteveDR.

There's quite a few versions of Ratts in/out threads and others with speculation.

Actually as with Judd & Fev is there any chance of setting up a Talking Ratten forum?

Might only last a week.

Then have a successful year next year and silence the critics . I want to see that smart arse Grant Thomas eat humble pie and I want to hear Carlton supporters say Mick Who

I'd love to win lotto and root anjelina jollie on the same day.

But how many years are you going to click your heels together three times and wish for this? I would like it to, but unfortunately, it ain't gonna happen.

At this point in time even Doug Pitt is looking good.

Ratten has one chance - this scenario:
-Malthouse states he's made up his mind & is a NO
-Chocco is sounded out and says NO
-Ditto Eade
-Sticks Harrison & Gleeson decide they can stick fat with Ratts & have the numbers on the board to get it through
-All involved get cold feet at having to commit to having to pay out Ratts then conduct a full interview process for a new coach (they can then use the fallback argument that the team needs an experienced coach)
-Justin Cordy gets turned into a sacrificial lamb
-Injuries are blamed
-Probably Barker and maybe one other assistant get turfed

=Ratts wins!

But I can't see Malthouse ruling himself out before Monday, so basically Ratts has Nathan Buckleys chance.

I see it claimed in The Age today that a change from Ratts to MM, would cost Carlton something of the order of $2.5m. for next year. Worth it? Can we afford this? Can we afford not to?

In the same paper today Walls wants Ratts to stay with different assistants. Walls dumps on Carlton's terrible recruiting and player development; criticises our recruitment of so many players who can't kick. Stating the obvious, but good to see it out there in the press.

I reckon Ratts is gone, but it can't stop there, a fish stinks from the head. For god's sake, how was a bloke with so liitle coaching experience (ditto for his assistants) ever appointed in the first place; oh yeah the class of '95 again.

Yeah I wasn't too thrilled that Walls & MacClure singled out Lucas & Watson as not being worth the position they were picked in. I hope it fires them up

Seems a pretty harsh call on Watson.
On Lucas, not so much.

The bagging of players should not be done in public, should be inhouse. Why do the legends of our club hinder instead of help us ?

So unprofessional......... Its not their fault they were picked so early in the draft.

Maybe Walls should have mentioned Sheppard, Butcher, Moore, Melksham and Gysberts also, as all were selected before Lucas in the same draft, but no.
Very selective and small minded by Walls. Thought he was better than that.

Lucas has not fared well for 1. injury and 2. not being on the same page as the coach.
Could well sulk himself out of the club but he's a much better player than he has shown us to date except for his first year.
