I am Carlton and hell yes, I am disappointed!!!

How has this happened? We all obviously overrated the players and the coaching staff, or maybe the whole team was dependant on Carrots.

At least Buckley and Bootsma had good games in the 2nds.

Bring on the Demons!

Right now Bryce Squibbs can flap off to the VFL until he decides if he wants to be a footballer.
Him and Jack Watts can compare each others 4s on their jumpers and toss a coin as to who is more lost as a footballer.

Today was depressing, but what may prove to be even more galling is that we may have missed the boat in terms of being a premiership contender over the next few years. Let's hope the rebuild does not need to start a lot sooner than expected.

A big problem for our team is that we lack a good bottom 6 - 8 players. You don't win premierships with a lack of depth within the 22. As soon as we suffer a few injuries, we get found out badly. The fact Duigan played today was evidence we lack quality players competing for spots. He was terrible last week, worse today and to be honest has been rubbish all year.

Also, our lack of system going forward is terrible. We rely to heavily on brilliant acts to kick goals and this doesn't work over a long season. I have said this previously but Ratten is not the man. Many people are hoping for the Mark Thompson scenario, but I don't think its going to happen.

We need to be bold right now, get a genuine midfielder in Dangerfield for Gibbs.

He's Victorian bound, Adelaide will get a hard on at the very mention of Gibbs.

We may get lucky, and Adelaide give us their second rounder for our third......

Lets do a straight swap.

Watts at least has a crack!

So Sanderson has transformed Adelaide that quickly.....shame we didn't grab him when he was available.....even when they were 8 goals ahead; they kept attackling and monstering us.

I was jealous of their playing style and embarrassed of ours.....we were pathetic and shameful.

Our 3rd string ex ruckman Sauce Jacobs killed us in the ruck; and their midfield murdered ours.

When is Bryce Gibbs going to produce something?......today was his big chance to take over Murph's possie.....or Carrot's possie.....and.....?.....Robbo stepped up at least and Scotto always tries; as does Armfield; and then......?.....JR kicks to Adelaide very precisely....why does he do that?......

Well, that happened.

The worst thing is that I don't think many of us are surprised.

Sack the board and you might have a chance of Gibbs being traded.

We will miss the eight
Game has evolved and is about inside strength which is our weakness

At this point, I wouldn't care if we missed the 8 and just sifted through the list to find out who can play and who can't.

We have built a side which simply can't win a flag. Lack of quality KPPs and hard nuts in the middle. We can basically only win games when we can get lots of outside ball.

It's rather galling to admit, but I can't see a premiership happening with things as they are at the club currently.

This was going to be our year. I was so positive. I am now just as positive we can't win it with this group. Or this game plan. The ugly truth is that Essendon* has passed us in the off season. Abu Dabi or wherever they went was a waste of time and money. Essendon* spent their off season in the gym. Richmond has been our bitch for several years but after what I saw last night against Essendon*, they are going to out body us in the return match. They will have passed us by next season. Collingwood was probably unlucky to get us on a good day with a full list. They have picked up some handy second tier players who are settling in nicely. St Kilda has an ageing list but have picked up some handy small forwards. Adelaide has a new coach and a new attitude but with the same list has jumped about ten teams in one go. WCE has been steadily good. The rest probably are below us, although Geelong did put up a good fight against Collingwood. They are shot for this season amd are old.
So?
If we can't do it this year, we will struggle for years. The reality is here. Adelaide gave us a footy lesson tonight. I am struggling to think of more than a handful of players who really had a crack and as others have pointed out in the match thread, we lack a system. It was pathetic to watch one of the Tippet goals at the end where they just chipped it from full back across and back until he had it in his hands. They must have had 10 uncontested possessions in that play alone. No manning up and our zone was obviously not up to it.
Murphy is a huge loss although even he was apparently quiet before he went off. If he is out for more than a couple of weeks, we are stuffed for the year.
Seven days ago, I posted, "in case we need incentive, a win tonight will see us top of the ladder." Tonight we are in the scrum with about six clubs, all looking to finish in the bottom of the eight. The players just didn't want it and tonight they showed it again.
NO PASSENGERS!
Cull a few of them and give some kids a run. Lucas, Bootsma, Buckley, Dale against Melbourne. We should still win but some of our bigger names have to go.
Russell, Touhy (although he at least has a go), Gibbs, Betts, Garlett, Kreuzer could do with a wake up call. Or maybe worse.
They are far too comfortable. It's harder to get dropped from this team than it is from the Australian Cricket team.

Interesting on SEN that Malthouse was asked what he would do.

He said other clubs have worked us out, but what clubs dont know what other clubs are good at. We need to do the things we do well better, and it is as simple as that.

A 3 tall 3 medium forward line isnt going to work.

Get 2 talls and 4 medium / small players in there and mark it or bring it to ground.

An example of where I struggle to come to terms is when we kick to Betts 1 on 2 high, and not out in front and let him run onto it, at least give him a chance. I saw us against GWS and nothings changed, we are playing ordinarily.

Just back from a day out and so disappointed but not surprised. We have serious issues that must be addressed on and off the field. The response so far to the on going challenge has been so poor. Will or skill? Probably both.

Sides enjoy creating stoppages because we can't win them, it's like handing back possession.
Amazingly poor. Our choirboy recruiting is coming home to roost.
Henderson aside they were all pissweak. Murphy was getting hammered before his injury not one went to stand up for him.
Only highlight was watching Dangerfield what a star.
make Roos a priority before gold coast sign him.
