This might sound a bit premature but our season might be on the line next week. We must win to confirm our top four credentials. Tonight was an unmitigated disaster and the club needs to redeem itself quickly.

Duigan must go. Tuohy is not too far behind him. Really missing Laidler, who won't be there next week.

If Carlton wins next week I will be both elated and fuming. Talk about mixed emotions.

Based on current form, we will get smashed.

Don't know about the call for Curnow, thought he was decent in close tonight.

Agree on Touhy, off song lately but kicking in is certainly keeping him in some favour.

Was Russell that bad? Didn't he shut out Goddard as a defensive forward at the start?

AJ, gone. He's had a few shockers @ Etihad.

We're missing Laidler. Yarran's kicking wouldn't go astray either.

If Ratten had some balls he would make a statement at selection and drop one of Gibbs, Garlett or Duigan.

Right now, in bleakdom, I'd have to agree.
How are we good enough to be top 4?
It seems a distant dream.

I actually agreed with the commentators at one point tonight. Bower really needs to know his limitations and just not kick it. Ever.

Why does Bower kick on his wrong foot so often?

Isn't as footy dumb as Armfield who has mastered the art of the lace pass to open space.

Yet Bower needs to adopt the KISS policy and not confuse himself with Yarran. Just lacks penetration in his kicking. Other sides push up to support if they see an average kick and a defender with the ball. Our players lead wide to leave us open if there's a turnover. They just run in with no one chasing. :|

I think we have only beaten the Crows once in the past 6-7 years. Could get ugly.
Out AJ, Russell, Garlett
In Yarran, Thornton, Collins

Could we just push Carrots and Laidler around on a trolley?
We really need them back in.

Handy at stoppages those trolley's.

I'm getting a vision of something you might see on THe GOODIES.

It all looks bad now. But if we win we are 6-2, and I think most people would have taken that prior to R1.

We need a complete attitude ajustment though. We seem in a similar trough to North, thinking we are better than what we are, so therefore don't have to work as hard as the opposition.

Our onballers are doing exactly what they did in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and it's killing our backline set-up..

We're again lucky with opposition outs, if Taylor Walker misses.

But of course the same was true this week, and it didn't seem to help us much.

80% of football is played above the shoulders ?- we are very out of form if first three rounds is the benchmark for the year.

Preparation.

Were under prepared.
We like the game played a certain way.
If its not we go to water.

Not sure lack of prep is true. No afl team is unprepared.
But your second statement about liking to play football a certain way is spot on. When we dont Play on our terms we dont adjust; hang in there and go again.

What fustrates me is that everyone thought including me, that with incremental improvement we would win more games this year and be top 4. At this stage i cant see the improvement and i think we will struggle to match the same wins as last year.

Our players are unprepared.
They cannot move into another shade of the game if have to.
Mentally theyre unprepared.
Guys look flat.
And we dont have enough strong frontline midfielders.

Having said that... those StKilda hacks like Armitage Ray etc worked a heap harder than us.

We seemed shell shocked !!!
We are not prepared to do the hard stuff... so we cannot expect to be competitive

StKilda had that game under control from half time on.

It was a mirror of the Essendon* game.

Killed by the small guys
Smashed in the middle.
Annihalated in the clearances.

Only this team had NO CHB and NO ruckman.. !!!

THIS

Ratten has never made a statement with selection. It's time.
