Not sure what Duigan actually did wrong now that I have watched the game. Some watchers are clutching at straws I think.

He may not have done a lot wrong as such (there was one shocking turnover on the 50 in the second quarter but he was hardly the lone ranger today) but...

I still have reservations about him. Doesn't seem tall enough to play tall, doesn't seem agile enough to play small. Not a great kick, not great hands although he has taken some good grabs. There is a lot for me to think that he will struggle to stay in the side when Laidler returns if not earlier.

Having said that, he is obviously a smart footballer and our defensive back 6 seems to play well when he is amongst it. He is also aggressive and courageous so he commands respect for that.

I was very happy with the way Jordy moved today though. Finally he doesn't look like he is limping around, 18 months after that hip surgery. If he regains his speed and agility he is easily in our best 18. Good signs there.

Duigan is not nearly at the same level that he was last year.
He is a good player, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is one of the 4 omissions this week.

Duigan is just regaining fitness[ lost a mth in pre-season]..Jamison who got back post-injury earlier is just starting to run/rebound

Duigs deserves the same patience to get up to full match touch..& i'm sure Ratt's will persist till he's back to his best touch & match fitness

I agree. At his best he takes intercept marks and makes a real physical impact with bumps, tackles and shepherds. Not really doing that yet. No doubt opposition sides have worked him out a little, but often seems to get lost in space at the moment or isolated one-on-one against quicker opponents.

Pros:-

- A win is a win, i guess.
- Got through without injuries
- BOOTSMA. haha. Funny funny stuff.
- Hampson. Could he be a Kouta mark iii? He has the athleticism and the speed???
- Walker's mark was right in front of me. God i have a man crush for this guy!!!
- seeing the boys having dinner at my local (The Great Northern Hotel) after the game. Awesome stuff! I would have gone up to say hi to Walker but i was half pissed and would have looked like a teenage girl at a justin bieber concert.

Cons:-

- Setanta. Feel sorry for the guy. But it was great to see all the boys rush to him after the game. I miss ya big irish.
- Lack Luster effort. We should have won by 100points even without Judd and Waite.
- General Skills. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: WTF?????
- Passengers. Some serious lazy passengers happening right now.
- No Desire. I thought we would have learnt our lesson from the Essendon* match. If we don't start wanting that footy more than the opposition then we're gonna start loosing matches we should easilly win.

Who was Kouta mark ii?

Ian Prendergast once was, for about 10 minutes there.

Totally agree - you don't suddenly go backwards in less than a year without reason. He will just continue to improve and is a vital big hard tough body we'll need in finals.

JR is another who is overcoming injury/fitness issues and its great to see him getting his mojo back.

Back six of Jamo, Hendo, Yazz, Duigan, JR and Laidler is as good as any going around IMHO

Pros -

Hampson's game. Really starting to add some Kreuzer-like elements to his game. He's becoming a link in possession chains, roving his own tap work, and you're seeing his defensive side come on leaps and bounds. Those two goals were the difference between a player with ability and a player with confidence as well.

Kreuzer. Set the standard in the first quarter. That massive chase on Greene went unrewarded but not unnoticed. Tackled hard, his tap work is as smart as any other ruckman, and he's becoming a presence up forward. Just needs to start converting.

Robbo - Bit of an improvement on the decision making as well as some superb inside 50s. Fierce.

Simmo - Reminded me of a bowler who's toiled away without luck on a flat deck, and then bobs up with a couple of wickets right on stumps. Looked like his opponent took the honours to 3/4 time, but never gave up, kept running, and put the icing on the cake in the last. The word "champion" is not misused here.

Jamo/Hendo/Scotland combination. Immense all day. Jamo back to his form from early last year.

Cons -

Murph - Arguably his worst game for the club. Really disappointing, lazy display. Too often he blazed away, both by hand and foot (that handball to no-one/opposition in the hope of gaining 10m has to go), never got out of second gear all game. A great feature of his game two years ago was his willingness to get crunched if it meant him taking a few extra seconds over his disposal, which seems to have disappeared over the past three weeks. That tap from Kreuzer to Murph running on to it in on the boundary was a nice reminder of what he's capable of, however I feel that the Selwood-esque treatment he gets from the umpires is to his detriment. Make him work harder to get his kicks. Some of the off-the-ball ones were rubbish.

Duigan - Russell played his role as the third man up better yesterday, was more creative with the ball, and ran harder. Dropped a couple of sitters, but otherwise, not the worst game, just Russell did it better.

Ellard - Not a great game first up. Offered very little offensively. When he was prepared to use the ball, rather than try and negate and shut down, didn't mind it. Was pretty slow on the spread, and got smashed at the clearances. Curnow ahead there.

No wonder he played poorly, that shit would've still been in his system.

Pros:
Jamison, Duigen, Russell, Bower - back to some good form. Beauty!
Last quarter

Cons:
2nd quarter
Smurph - but surely is allowed a downer.
We need to stop playing Garlett/Betts as key position forwards and stop bombing the ball long to them!!!!!!
We need to either find another KP forward or leave Thornton & resting ruckman deep in the forward line = always!!!!!!
