What would Collins do exactly Gerry? What does he add to the side?

Good question. To be honest I saw bits of his games with the Tiges and thought he had good pace, could mark above his height and has good balance, and also I think he has played well in the pre-season and we need to see what he has got. As an emergency you'd think he is under serious consideration for a game. he can offer run and carry on the wing, a chance for a mismatch if he goes forward. His game v Essendon* last year was an absolute shocker, but I think he is young and versatile and we need to see what he can do. I think we have seen what Brock can and can't do, and what he can't do keeps him out of the side. Also if we swap JR out we probably want a similarish player to replace him and that is more Collins than McLean. And completely irrationally I want to win the deal and for him to become a much more effective player than Grigg

I think Brock showed there's plenty of things he can regain based on his pre-season form. Collins and Russell are not similar players, nor does Collins show much pace in his run and carry.

I think he would play off the HF, and not really add a whole lot to the structure given Thornton is in the team. I'd be looking to McLean to change the midfield dynamic and open up some opportunities for Murphy, Scotland and Judd to tear it up more forward of centre.

We'll wait and see what transpires jimmae, but I am afraid Brock is one of the great Carlton trading debacles to sit beside Davenport, Mansfield, O'Reilly etc.

..not sure what will happen with the Waite report.. ..i think a free kick [against & given] is pretty much all it warranted, but hard to tell.. ..round 1, they may be wanting to set examples..

..otherwise, with no-one really fit to come right back in next week [would give them an extra week], i don't really see any need for changes [provided Waite isn't suspended].. ..i do think Lucas deserves to start, and unfortunately going by game and pre-season i think it'd be Rusty's start that Lucas would take..

If Waite is out, I would bring in Mcarthy. We need to give him a go and see what he can do and Brisbane is a good game to blood him

Just saw the Waite incident again on the replay - knowing how the AFL MRP treats these things early I'll be very surprised if he gets less than 2 weeks. Waite almost had an "I know I'm in trouble" look on face as he came away from the contest and the umpire told him he'd been reported....... hope I'm wrong but I'm thinking he'll miss.

Yep. Far to methodical for the young lions. They will have their moments but we will win each quarter by 2 and a 1/2 goals.

Well if Carrots only got a week for going MMA on the Doggies who knows, maybe Waite will get a bye from the MRP.

Can't understand why anyone would want to move hendo forward. He has been twice as good in the backline as he ever was up forward, and without him I think we're short a genuine KPP size defender, even with jamo in. Let's not make the same mistake we did with Waite and keep moving him around. The bloke has settled down back and is playing great footy. Leave him there

There is no way Waite will go for that. He didn't turn his hip to bump and to me it looked like he tried to slow up at the last moment

I really hope Waite doesn't get rubbed out. We need him to get some continuity into his footy and find peak form/fitness early in the season. I'm not sure who we'd bring in for him either...perhaps Jamo, depending how he goes tomorrow, but I think the MC would prefer to give Jamo an extra week in the VFL. The other options are Rowe, Watson or McCarthy. I'd say McCarthy because of this extra mobility and to give him some exposure to AFL. It may be sooner than the club intended, but it could be a good game to debut him.

But assuming Waite avoids suspension, and there's no other forced changes (hopefully Laidler pulled up OK), the only change I'd be inclined to make is Brock in for Curnow. I thought Curnow had a reasonable game last night, but I don't think he gives us much that Brock can't and I think Brock has better disposal. I've been critical of the Brock trade, but he has hardly put a foot wrong lately and I think the MC should give him a go while he's in form. Otherwise, they should have paid him out and delisted him last year. If he spends a lot of time on the bench in the 2nd half tomorrow in the VFL, I'd say that's an indication he's going to Brisbane.

Collins is in a similar situation - he's come from another club and is under pressure to keep his spot on the list. There may be a case for him to play him as Sub if he has a good game tomorrow, but I'm not sure who he'd force out...

JR is obviously the player currently in the team that is still searching for form, but we know he's a confidence player and so I'd like the MC to persist with him for awhile longer.

I'd bring Lucas into the 21 and play either Tuohy or Armfield as Sub (depending on match-ups).

The early (Thursday) game is causing selection problems.

The only change will be if Waite is rubbed out.

Duigan & Jamison, will not have enough time to recover after VFL game on the weekend.

If Waite is rubbed out and the fact that J. Brown is out, then Thornton will play up forward with Hammer.

Laidler and Henderson will take key back posts.

Time will tell.

i think if either Jammo or Duigs play a half this weekend, they could play next week. If they play 3 or more quarters, they wont. Will be preplanned either way .

And you cant make Zac a sub if he is going to be in the back 6 long term .

So when we beat the Pies in two weeks time will we still not have beaten anyone above us on the ladder?
