Geoffrey Edelsten wins a car in our end of season raffle, and we lose by 20 goals. Thought we could get no lower than that (until the aforementioned Hawthorn game).

By a mile. I watched my club almost disintegrate on and off the field. Watchinh fans abusing Murphy and Matty Allan in the tunnel, whilst we got flogged and I had to endure Boomer Harvey happily dancing on our grave with his ever more ridiculous goal celebration.

Melb final was another bad one.

Didnt I give it to this little flogster when Chris Yarran ran him down last year - I am glad the selfish little turd has elected to go around for another year so Yarran can pull his pants down again.

AGRO, what's happened to the 'must fall' list?

I think what we are seeing is the varying ranges of emotions over certain types of losses. All of the above games have varied from demoralising, to sadness, to anger, to frustrating, to helplessness. etc.

Under the 'anger' banner would definitely be the aforementioned 'Melbourne 94' (Gave it to the neighbours fence), and 'Hawks 2001'. (Ordered out of the house, until I was able to return in a more stable state).

Round 2 2002, 80ish point loss to Sydney was a bad one for me emotionally. Spent all season defending our recruiting, and whilst there were warning signs the week before against St Kilda, reality hit me that game that we were really were going to be as bad as everyone kept telling me!

Ricky Mott destroyed as that day, and is usually a forgotten candidate when we are trying to think of the 'played 1 good game against us, so must recruit' policy.

The Neale Daniher came at PP was hard to take as youngster. I also attended a game at Windy Hill in about 84 or 85 when they absolutely smashed us and
the Arceri point game at the WO (got back to the car to find a parking ticket).
All of the St Kilda losses during the 2000`s.

This thread is making me want to slash my wrists...

Some bad memories being recalled.

The 2000 & 1994 finals losses to Melbourne stand out for me. 2000 in particular. :banghead:

Others -

Losing by a kick at Moorabbin in 1989. Plugger kicks 10 on SOS. Saints supporters were beyond feral that day.

Ben Dixon after the siren in 2001.

Richmond smashing us in 2005.

Fev hitting the post vs Hawthorn in 2009. In fact, most games vs Hawthorn in the last 5 years.

The 1993 GF and then 2 frustrating losses to Essendon* in 1994. We beat them 4 out of the next 5 times though....

Port Adelaide Rd 21 2000.

...And the last 3 interstate finals.... :banghead:

BNS, you reminded me I travelled to that rd21 match at AAMI stadium against PA all cocky, verballing the yocals, then saw them come back with a Burgoyne goal on or just before the siren to lose. Home is a long way after a loss like that and I look back to that game as the beginning of the end for that decade.

I actually thought about this game (and some similar others) last year when trying to comprehend Port's consecutive losses last year to Collingwood and Hawthorn by 138 points (in the rain!) and 165 points respectively.

I didn't think it was possible for any AFL team to play any worse than we did that day....

Others have mentioned it but easily the worst and most demoralizing was the 73 GF.

See http://fromthemoshpit.com/2011/04/04/li ... seventies/

Last weekend's losses to Port and Adelaide.

Great article by the way Moshe, brought back so many bitter sweet memories.

Personally, the most galling were a dead heat between 73 GF, hence intense
dislike for them ever since (may they rot in 9th forever) and the 76 Prelim loss
by a point to North. That really hurt as i was convinced we were certainties
to win the flag that year, yet couldnt hit a barn for last 10 minutes....and gawn !!

A lot of those big losses in early 00's hurt, but you sort of expected it most weeks.

100+ point loss a few years ago against the Filth where Joffa and all his cro-magnon mates got out the wooden spoons sticks in the mind.

Good call PP re the Neale Daniher game. It was '81, we had em on toast. Daniher was given his own footy and we lost by a point.

I'm still shitty.

Wasn't born in 73, for me the 93 GF against the Scum was the worst.
Hanna getting KO'd behind the play, SOS touching Long's kick and it still getting paid as a goal

THIS

Remember jumping on the train at Spencer St half-way through the third quarter, a Kangas fan was getting off the train just arriving at the ground to witness the carnage. Have despised Harvey ever since.

I like your thinking, except that St Kilda fans take a perverse pleasure in their pathetic loser status, so I doubt whether they'd be too demoralised by any loss. Well, maybe other than the loss which put an end to The Streak™
