Thanks Jim. I was curious since I was having a real problem seeing where Rowe would fit. I was thinking that T-bird may be the unlucky one, Waite goes to CHF and Rowe to FF. I don't think we would generally want to increase the number of talls and we have to accommodate 2 rucks. I would be reluctant to drop Thornton though as I think his marking/kicking and experience is very valuable. Mmmmmm - a difficult one alright.

Yes, it is difficult so someone will be unlucky when I re-thought, or pointed out to me to re-think (re: Rowe). Waite's a godsend in a way as his ability and make up allows us to comfortably rest a ruckman forward without losing anything in pace, marking, agility and mobility. allows Kruezer and Hampson to do their thing without the added burden of being key forwards when resting. No way I want ruckmen playing key position, as they're generally not very good at it, except in emergency like the Perth final last year. There anyone tall up forward would've been better than nothing.

Duigan (AJ) Jamo Tuohy
Yarran Hendo Laidler
Scotland Robbo Simpson
Gibbs Hammer Garlett
Betts Waite Walker

R Kruze, Judd, Murph

Int
Ellard, Carrots, T bird sub : Lucas

I could probably swap Gibbs and Robbo - depends on how it is best to play Deluidio - assuming he starts HBF (any thoughts?)
(may also swap carrots to tag cotchin)

Not sure how JR is travelling.
Not particularly creative team - mind you not sure how often we have managed to get this group on the field at the same time...

Anyone know what the story is with Walker? I heard a rumour (no idea how good the source is, but it was from a friend of mine who follows footy, but not that closely, and wouldn't have even known he wasn't in the squad for last weekend's games, who apparently has a connection to the family) that he has an injury, possibly thigh, that will keep him out of the pre-season comp.

Interesting that he didn't play on the weekend, and Ratts didn't mention him as one of the players who is scheduled back in week 3. Would be a bugger if he missed the beginning of the season, we really need him both forward and in the middle.

He may not start @ FF, but he's ideal for the sub role this year. Whatever, he's in my 22 just for his sheer versatility.

Cannot agree with this. The sub MUST be a runner.

T-bird starts in the 21 (which is what I think), or doesn't play.

Like the look of this team ... but depending on how he goes in the NAB ... would somehow like to get Rowe into the side.

It so difficult now ... we have so much to choose from ... especially the HB line ...

Well I guess only those teams that don't have Laidler in them will now be relevant - which I'm guessing is none of them. He leaves a big hole (funny to say that of a second year player, but he has become a key down back) but the question is who comes into the team and how do we reshuffle. Does Gibbs go back? Thornton? Do we bring in someone who slots straight into his spot and if so who?

Injury list says Buckley, Mitchell, O'Keeffe, Laidler and Bell are out

You'd have to doubt Warnock and probably White - for present purposes assume they don't come up

The club is mysteriously quiet on Walker and bullish on Duigan and Jamison - so assume they come up but allow for alternatives in case they don't. Then this is what I come up with:

Scotland Jamison/Watson Bower
Duigan/Lucas Henderson Gibbs
Simpson Judd Yarran
Garlett Waite Robinson
Hampson Walker/Rowe Betts
Kreuzer Carrazzo Murphy
Curnow Thornton Tuohy Armfield
EMERGS Ellard Joseph McLean

Others - Russell, Collins, Davies have all been playing preseason and are physically ready for senior footy, so must be in the scope of the selectors considerations.

NB Casboult if elevated for LTI considered instead of Rowe

Joseph Henderson Thornton
Duigan Bower Tuohy
Yarran Curnow Simpson
Gibbs Waite Garlett
Betts Hampson Walker

Kreuzer Judd Murphy

Robinson Scotland Carrazzo Lucas

At this stage Jamison still unlikely for round 1 even if he does play next week and Warnock almost definitely not available.
Would prefer Henderson on Jack allowing Bower to make the odd mistake without too much damage.
Curnow and McLean to have a face-off and Ed may just have his nose in front right now, but things could change.
Rowe may be considered but fitness levels not quite to scratch. May just hold him out.
Lucas should have been an almost certainty, but now just hanging on by a thread. Will need a good game or two after last week.

by golly gosh looking at that defence without Jamo and Laids and it looks a lot less solid - Vickery and Jack licking their chops - but the ball has to get down there first

Like it

Would swap Bower for Joseph.

You already have 4 tall backs and 3 tall fwds.

Imo, Thorton is an integeral part of our best 22.

He gives us 2 things......versatility and footy smarts.
