Apparently Ratts is giving the boys a good bake.

Guess he doesn't think this loss means nothing.

He trains with them. He socializes with them. They are his band of brothers. He loves them. He stands by them just like they stood by him when he kicked the footy oob on the full against Essendon*.

If you've really ever had to be a part of a team in adversity, you'd never have to ask a stupid question like that.

Why can't I be one of those people who can be so optimistic immediately after a poor performance?

By I agree, next week is judgement day. Not just for the coach but the players too.

They outran us and then outplayed us after half time. Always had the outnumber and wanted the win more which is to be expected considering there was more in it for them. We looked like we had cement legs after half time and were a few % off mentally.
Id imagine the fall away was due to our training being geared towards next week and beyond. I expected us to go down by more pre game so i am not too down about the result.

Lyon is a smart coach too and found away to shut down space after half time. Maybe that had to do with our lack of legs.

Anyway next week is what it is all about for us and i reckon we are well placed to put in for a big win against the old enemy.

Hope Kruezer is ok.

Spot on. Tonight means nothing apart from possibly losing Kreuzer for next week. Remember Collingwood lost by 96 points last night and are still overwhelming favourites for the flag.

!@#$%& pathetic effort. If the club see that as anything but totally unacceptable, then we're totally !@#$%& in September.

Tonight (and the Hawks game) we've validated everything the shitheads out there have been saying about us all year.

so what, there was nothing to gain from tonight, they stopped trying after half time, no run, no tackles, no nothing.... we made St Kilda look rank in the first half without even trying.

next week is what counts, this is when we will be judged, not on a meaningless game that meant nothing to us in terms of ladder positions.

If we 'weren't trying' and didn't really care about the result or getting our players into some sort of form, then why didn't we follow Hawthorn's lead and leave out anyone with a niggle (of which we had quite a few)?

We were beaten, plain and simple. Outplayed, outsmarted and above all, outmuscled. The exact same happened against Hawthorn two weeks ago. Clearly we learned !@#$%& nothing from that.

we did, we rested thornton and jamo.

we were coming off the bye, you can't rest players like hawthorn did, that would mean too much of a long break.

we had nothing to play for. this week meant nothing, zilch, forget about it, no point getting all stressed about it.

focus on next week...

I have to go to bed. It's 7:30 in the morning. I've been up most the night supporting the boys from the other side of the world. I am not alone in this. There are heaps of us. The foreign legion.

We are Carlton.

Not fussed really..

We looked very flat from the beginning against a team that had a lot to play for...Our tackle (or lack thereof) shows this..

Still had more shots than them..

Look for the Bombers to be lethargic coming off the bye (and a terrible performance last weeK)

Only issue is Kreuzer, but I am confident that if we had anything riding on this game, he would have been given a jab...

You might think it's stupid but I think it's extremely valid. He's one of those guys who would gladly throw himself on a grenade for his mates. I merely wonder whether he would get pissed off when he sees the guys around him squibbing contests, standing back waiting for easy touches, playing on when they shouldn't, and disappearing for whole halves, while he's getting smashed every time he goes near it and continues getting up for more. The point is that too much is left to too few.

You choose to see tonight as a non-result, which is fine. I don't see that. I see a mob that needs a swift kick up the arse and cup of concrete or else it'll be 0/3.

rubbish that we had nothing to play for tonight.

after the hawks loss, the bye granted us time to reassess and get ready for the finals. with respect to mindset, our finals should have started tonight. if we are going to win a flag this year, their collective mindset should be about winning every game. full stop!

We won't win the premiership this year.

I'm so sad.

Garlett has been missing for a couple of weeks now, a big concern.

And can we stop kicking long bombs to Warnock? Seems like he is the go-to man whenever we have no one to kick it to. There's really no point, he can't mark the ball.
