I'd have given an important part of my anatomy for Setatnta to be in our forward line for just a half of the game yesterday.

I know I'm in the minority but I think that TBird can fill the void of our second marking forward. He is actually a better contested mark than Hendo, and FWIW, has a better footy brain than Hendo at this stage. His kicking is no worse than Hendo's.

I've been one of Thornton's biggest critics, but I'm far more comfortable with him up forward than down back. He leads well IMO, thought he presented well yesterday and did seem to get ignored on a few occassions when he was in good position.

Don't mind him up forward 99.
Usually want to slap him when he kicks sideways down back..but he likes playing forward..and gives everything when they put him there.

Hey Moshe25...all in good spirit and a bit of keyboard fun. On the serious side, it is critical that we draw a line over the last 16 games and say to ourselves, "we start the new season 4th" Lets beat those #$$% from Napier St and start this mini season with a consoldation top 4 win. The last 16 games have given us good data on our strengths and weaknesses. Let's use the data to set a meaningful goal - remain in the top 4. This must be our mindset.

If the big Irish comes in for anyone - which I doubt considering he hasnt played for 6-7 weeks
He should replace Thornton

Clearances are to important to be relying on Ohalpin to win the ruck contests - he sucks in the ruck and if Thorton is not going to play back - Ohalpin is the better option forward

Surely he'd come in for Watson SB?

Tuohy in for Watson I reckon.

Bower/Hendo our KPDs, Thornton to remain forward until Waite returns in 3 weeks.

No you're not, 99prelim. He played alot of his junior footy @ Oakleigh as a CHF, you can see he knows where to run and has far more "smarts" than the other options. AND, he can take a contested mark and kicks ok.

Leave him fwd, at least until Waite or Carlos are ready.

Wouldnt it be better to lose the extra big bloke we have started carrying since the Briz game ?
Bower or T bird CHB (bower to Ants if they chose T bird).
Watson to the Ants and Carlos in to play up front.
Bring in another running player for Sub.

I would only do this when Carlos is fit and ready.

FOr now i will stick with what Rexy suggested.

I don't care Club 29.

Yesterday in the third quarter I thought a smal forwards would win us the game with fast ball movement and superior speed.

But then we bomb the ball in to pygmy's and they stopped running.

Identical to every poor game we've played this year. If we arn't going to use the little blokes properly, then we've at least got to get someone who can bring the ball to ground.

Mind you i don't think it's that simple either. There are other issues with our ball use inside 50 that need to be addressed.

It beggars belief that some want Setanta in the team despite not playing any form of football for almost two months...

This despite the criticism of playing underdone players of late.

Bower must play a full game this week, he showed enough in a quarter and a bit to justify this.

err, pygmy's ? :?

I agree we need to play smarter when going forward. Kick low and hard to space and to the advantage of our smalls on ground level and watch them do their magic.

Hornet, i didn't mean neccessarily immedialtely...
but offering a suggestion that with him in, it gives a greater opp. for the big K up forward..and alternating with Setanta.
It could potentially make a huge diff to our structure and scoring potential. Even more so when ampson comes back, if you start to see Mattie more as a key forward.

In the same way Milne, Ballantine and Matera are pygmy's.

Height not colour.
