Ratten was interviewed after the game. He said the JR was tight in the hammy before the game and felt it during the game so was subbed off.
Out;
JR, Laidler, Hampson
In;
Warnock, Houla, Hendo

We were not as good at clearances with Hampson in the ruck as we are with Warnock. Around the ground they are even.
So Warnock in for Hampson if he is ok.

Id like to swap out Mclean for Curnow if possible if not Brock gets another week.

Not sure who to bring in for laidler and russ. Gibbs will play in defense and replace one of them so maybe Joseph in as a runwith onballer.

Happy just to get the points over the next 2 weeks.

In: Warnock, Bower
Out: Laidler (inj), Ellard(?)

Duigan Jamison Thornton
Russell Bower Yarran
Gibbs McLean Simpson
Walker Waite Gartlett
Hampson O'hAilpin Betts
Warnock Judd Murphy
Scotland Carrazzo Robinson Armfield

We need to replace Laidler with some height back, therefore either Bower (my guess) or White / Davies.
Warnock needs to come back but also needs better support, therefore Hampson to stay in.
O'hAilpin did enough to stay in this week as did Thronton.
Ellard or Armfield the unlucky one's for me. Think Army offers a bit more just for now.

Its all simple really

Laidler is out, Houlihan in and plays forward. Walker plays back as he was second half last night.

If Russell is out and is to be replaced by a tall it will be Henderson. If more of a runner, Tuohy.

If Duigan is out, Joseph in.

If Warnock fit, Hampson out.

If Curnow fit, McLean out.

With respect to Hotcox, you heard it here first !

:thanks:

Opportune time to perhaps give McInnes a taste in replacing Laidler.

Laidler is probably the only definite out so far. Would you risk Bower? He will have only played 1 VFL game since his (second) injury of the year, and before that he only played 3 or 4 VFL games.

Maybe Henderson would be a better option.

According to Jamo (SEN) Duigan is fine for next week, he'd be surprised if JR wasn't right for next week and Laidler will miss a few.

IMO Russel and Laidler are definite outs.

There is not a hope in hell we would risk a player with a hamstring strain even if it is the slightest of strains.
Laidler's knee cap doesn't sound good, and of the 2 injured maybe he'd recover earlier than Russell, but not in one week...see Cooney

There's no way I'd play McLean for the same reason the MC shouldn't have selected and put Henderson in such a ridiculous position against the Bumbers in Rnd 4.

He isn't ready for AFL...he may never be again for all I know, but what is done is done and no point thinking about what he cost us. He may get better as the season unfolds. He needs to be much quicker by foot than he is atm. And his hand skills were not great last night and that's suppose to be his strength. He found it hard to hit targets. He's not ready imo.

Hampson did well in the ruck at times, and got his hands to the ball a lot, looked impressive at times....I'm talking potential here.
On a dry ground if we needed a competitor in the ruck Hampson's the man, but Setanta gives us more around the ground. Warnock will return to do battle with Brogan, Westoff and some kid. Along with Setanta (till Kreuzer returns) we have the ruck covered.

OUT: Russell Laidler McLean Hampson

IN: Warnock Henderson Houlihan Joseph
....possibly (hopefully) Tuohy(preferred to for Joseph against Port) and Kreuzer...and maybe O'Keefe....who knows, maybe Bower shows he's still got a good fitness base and some form to go with that this weekend in the Ants.

I doubt Duigan will miss playing in his home town but if he does, that's a lot of changes, but at least all the above will have a bit of form, they will be fit to compete against the bottom team, and some could do with a senior hit out for all to have a look at where they are at.

I look forward to a 100 point win....and want Walker and Waite playing forward (with Kreuzer :gift: )

Those changes could happen ..maybe..
whatever way we go though..
Iwish i had your confidence re Port.
They are schizoid.
Who knows which Port we will get.
Good Port is very good and could give us a scare over there.
bad Port..yeah..a big score is possible.

Onya BG72.

We should win by 5 goals against good Port and 100 against bad Port.
I know you know we are a better side this year than 2010 and Port is not better than they were in 2010.
I think you are taking the Port win in the showdown too serious.
Yes they blitzed Crows to win from being a long way back at half time, but that happens to young teams like the Crows.

You saw what we did against the Dees last night.
I thought that was disciplined possession footy and we stuck to it for 100 minutes.
Despite the flood with the extra man in defense to clog up our forwardline and the slippery conditions, we were grinding them to submission.
The same will happen against Port. They will hope for wet conditions to avoid a slaughter.
Port are DEAD. Nothing to fear from them...as long as we stay committed to the plan and the cause as we have in the first 9 rounds.

Tuohy is not available for selection.

This is what happened:

- Mitchell placed onto the LTI list
- Casboult elevated for him
- Casboult injured
- Tuohy took the elevation spot
- Mitchell returned last week

Tuohy can be elevated for round 12, I believe.

Moving on, my changes:

Out: Ellard, Russell (inj), Laidler (inj)

In: Curnow, Houlihan, Henderson

Ellard has been average the last few weeks yet Mclean keeps copping it. Ellard may have the ability to apply more defensive pressure than Brock but his kicking/decision making has let him down quite a bit recently. Will be a tough choice for the MC though.

Ellard might have that ability but Brock's pressure stats have been good, and last night he got to blokes outside the 'bubble', as they now seem to be calling it.

I was impressed by Ellard's kicking in his first few weeks and there's no doubt his pace has improved significantly over the last 2 years. But Brock is still a better disposer of the ball, particularly when Ellard's form has deserted him.

The stats in no way support that jim.
