Really disappointed these have been canceled. Was happy to part with hard earned for a great initiative and cause. Pretty vague explanation as to why cancellation occurred, but fingers crossed they get this type of thing up and running on a semi-regular basis and the club is seen to be supporting the SOC.

Nah this is something that really shouldn't have been swept off so quickly. With the bye coming up, it would have been the perfect time to run through the FD luncheon and tour.

When'd it get cancelled?

Bob Lowrie rang today and said both May and July luncheons have been canceled. The take-up for this was remarkable, so nothing to do with lack of numbers...something about a conflict?

Not Executive -v- Board I hope.

yup, got bob's call this afternoon and he mentioned the cancellation was due to a "conflict of interest"

he was hopeful that the luncheons could eventually take place once this conflict was resolved.

"conflict of interest" is a bit different to a "conflict".

Probably mixed up schedules/bookings made it easier to arrange another time.

Shame, it looked really good...hopefully they can reschedule.

If there's someone in the FD swatting this down (and that's merely a guess on my part), that's pretty disappointing. There's nothing particularly unique or valuable going on in the CFC that requires such a stone-wall approach, so it's very precious to not put it on show to what you would assume to be HNW individuals and football tragics who will put out positive word-of-mouth.

We're proving ourselves to be a reasonably professional organisation, so why not show the wheels turning a bit for some choice fans.

So I take it this supposed "conflict of interest" would be between two schools of thought:

School 1 says that you do all you can to involve your supporters and members, and in turn you will be rewarded as a business. School 2 says supporters and members (ie, customers) are at best a nuisance and things would run way more smoothly without them.

Pity School 2 won. That's the school with all the dumb kids in it.


Although, ironically, this probably gives us a ripping 'insight into the Carlton Football Club'. And no-one had to pay a cent for the experience.

Why would it be launched and promoted before dotting and crossing 'i's & 't's???

A professional organisation doesn't stuff their customers / stake-holders around like this.

I don't mind Greg Swann, but he's the CEO, and the buck stops with him on this and other marketing / supporter engagement issues.

Not disagreeing, but this was an SOC initiative. Remember Dick Pratt went early on the hotels deal, and he was a business guru (well as far I know).

I'm thinking / hoping bob mistakenly used the term "conflict of interest" to denote some last minute timetable clash involving key panel member(s).
