Announcing this from merely the previous wednesday is a poor effort in terms of communications IMHO
It seems to come across like an after-thought

I'm thankful for a lot of the effort that goes on from CFC, however this last 12 months seems to be have not been one of the better years when it comes to communications and involvement of the members. There seems to have been very little on offer for Captain's club (social club) members, unlike previous years. -And I would have thought with the desired aim of increasing membership that a well, in advance, promotion of a family day prior to christmas would have only helped the cause.

Thanks for the advanced notice Carlton.

There was advance notice...
It was up on the Website all week, all over the club's Facebook page, and I even got an SMS yesterday about it....

Homer: What really burns me up is they didn't give us one word of
warning.

Carl: What do you mean? They ran those TV commercials about it,
and that big radio campaign.

Lenny: Don't forget the leaflets they dropped from the Space
Shuttle, and the two weeks we all spent at area code camp.

Homer: (shakes head) Not a single word of warning.

I received an sms about this Friday afternoon.

Unfortunately it was way too late to organise taking my 3 nephews.

Now I check the club website twice daily just in case...

For whoever actually managed to get out of bed and brave the weather, how was the day?

They would have hit over 50000 fans with the announcement in one hit when they advertised it on Facebook - The club seems to be using Facebook quite alot and with 10 million users across Australia it seems a clever way to market yourself if you ask me- People don't normally go to the website everyday but you can bet your life most will check their Facebook accounts . Nearly everyday there are training photos or articles about players and the club I don't have Twitter but i believe that is another avenue they using - to me the communications is moving with the times the people complaining about the lack of it are not

No worries. Because I go to the official website for Carlton information but dont use facebook, I'm behind the times.
What a load of shit.

The club should be promoting the official site. The best way to do it is to keep it up to date. What's more, we could use the official site AND Facebook. How's that for a novel idea Sydney?

Ok I'm in the marketing department of the CFC- I have this site that has potentially 10 million users in Australia and growing everyday - It already has its own page that at present has 50000 plus fans - so every time I post something those 50000 plus fans get to see it- Alternatively I have my own web page that gets say 2000 - 3000 hits per day - Where am I going to promote first - It was posted on both albeit late but you are wrong in this case the officail website is secondary to Facebook . You will get more bang for your buck on Facebook . If you then click the notification in Facebook it often takes you directly to the CFC home page . So they are promoting both .

So BV get with it sign up to Facebook and become fan number 51595

They had photos of Super Saturday up at 10.08 saturday morning- Fans can add their own comments and post their own photos - and today there is a write up about Super Saturday .
More people will see it so it is better promotion of the club - no use advertising on Channel 31 when everyone is watching Channel 9

I agree it was great to see photos up of Super Saturday. I'll be one of the first to praise the club for their good work. I also have no doubt the intentions of everyone involved is for the betterment of the club.
But really, informing people on Wednesday evening was poorly advised. With Christmas a week away, peoples lives are busy at the moment. Contrary to the belief of some, nothing would make me happier than seeing CFC running like a finely tuned machine off field but it's not. IMHO, putting the info on the website a week or so before the event is not that hard.
Give people the opportunity to organise themselves and get their kids involved in the culture of the club.

With full time communications people, There's no reason for the late notice other than a disorganised administration. Sure, I could sit back and accept the mediocrity like some of the sychophants here but I wont. If we accept short cuts and poor performance, we'll go backwards.
There's no reason that we cant be market leaders and innovators for the other clubs to chase. No reason other than apathy and laziness anyway.

As for the belief of some that on field success will be the panacea for all our ills, spare me. :donk:

Late notice = not good enough. I don't go to Family Days, and it's not a huge deal, but can't see how it can be defended. Did they forget? :screwy:

Unless it was an ad hoc response to fans who've been annoyed at the lack of comms particularly re closed training...in which case CFC deserves 2 cheers for trying.

Great to see the club is posting info well in advance.

Should stop us all whining but please check club site and facebook regularly just in case.
