A week later, we were down by quite a bit to North midway through the 3rd quarter. This game was also at Princes Park. Parkin brought on Rohan Kerr (son of former great Laurie Kerr) and put him into the middle. He racked up 17 posessions from the middle of the 3rd till the middle of the last, and swung the game our way. We won.

I think you mean Rohan Burke here Siegfried, son of Gerard Burke...and it was 1983. I was at that one...Bosustow whacked a couple of blokes and got 4 weeks which ended his season and never played in navy blue again.

2001 on a Friday night v North. We started terribly in Lances 100th, our boys were slipping and sliding all over the wet park. 6 goals down at halftime we were. Then Darren Hulme stepped up and won the footy in a remarkable piece of play when he shouldn't. The boys kicked it forward and we got a goal. It all started there. I remember Wayne Brittain pointing to that as the defining moment in the game. Blues win a thriller by a goal with Lance kicking the sealer. Could it have been scripted any better? I think not.

Thats a good clip.

How's the man handling of Kouta, there must have been three or four free kicks in that contest, if that was today (or even Matty Lloyd back then) it would have been a free as soon as the ball left Freeborne's boot.

Agree, Colby was all over him.

Watch any Matthew Lloyd equivalent marking contest from back then and it was always a free kick.

99 Prelim by a long way. I was watching it with my in-laws who are all one-eyed Essendon* fans.

99 prelim for sure.

I had just arrived back from working overseas and was being starved of footy news ... walking in the door after 1.00am and finding 2 tickets to the game on that day sitting on the kitchen table.

Fair to say it was the best day at the footy ever.... i remember being content at half time and being really proud of the boys against the odds... and probably resigned to the fact that we had put in a great effort at 3/4 time...... only to age 10 years in the last few minutes of the match..

oh the joy of giving to the Essendon* supporters as the trudged out.... i think i was actually standing on the back of the seat by that stage.....

best thing was i live in moonee ponds so did a detour past windy hill with the scarf out the window watching people collect their chairs from the outside the ground..... maybe the 5 laps was a bit over the top

Spot on Doc, Rohan Burke. I always remember (although who knows how accurately) the radio commentators going around the ground...Gerald Burke at Carlton, Laurie Sandilands at Footscray, George Ferry at Richmond...

Wow, could have sworn it was 1982, amazing how the memory plays tricks on you :donk:

Only one in my life time.

99 prelim.

Other than Liverpool @ Instanbul nothing comes close to THAT feeling when the siren went and Justin Murphy sticking it up the Bombers.

2003, Rd22.

Carlton at their absolute worst in an unprecedented period of almost complete non-competitiveness. I'll point to that game as a reminder that Carlton cannot afford to become as arrogant and complacent as they were in the years preceding that ever again.
