I think at this point he's still a guy who needs to see the game from the backline.

His running through apcks and tackles would be great in certain circumstances and hopefully we are so far in front in a few games that we can try him on the ball (if we are getting flogged we could try it also).

Very harsh.

I agree CK.

We miss 5 easy shots at goal in that final and Hotcox suggests Army cost us the game.
So wrong Hotcox. The game is 100 minutes long, not 30 seconds.

We should've wrapped the game up much ealier imo but we missed our chances then.

id actually go one step further, and say, that even after making the mistake he did, in the dying seconds of the game, he still took it on in and attempt to win it, was probably the most oustanding thing of the game for me.

i thought it was brillant, considering what happened only a matter of minutes earlier.

any player who can and does do that, is a bloke who has the mental fortitude to play the game!!

but i also agree with cimm, he needs to be played in the position he currently is. the game coming to him and reacting, rather than him creating the play.

While I agree defence is his best position, I think he can make a really good contribution as a tagger who can take it and run. Generally his runs from defence have a habit of stalling if the opposition floods, i.e. he doesn't back his kicking and runs too long. By the time he puts boot to ball, everyone's covered.

I think his best position right now is in the back pocket where he can run in straight lines and create. Short bursts in the centre could be useful if he improves his aerobic capacity over the pre season.

He did what he did. There was a player two metres away who made no effort to shepherd. THAT is where Armfield came unstuck.
If you do what you do best all year and then get tackled in the last game, it shouldn't be held against you. Armfield likes to run and carry and that's why he's in the team. We lost the final because we lost on the day. Not because of one incident.

That's it. Have absolutely no issue with Armfield in that final. And to keep going and take the play on again pretty much straight after was fantastic to see.

The way midfield rotations are going, I'd have no problem seeing Army in the middle every now and then either.

What a load of dribble. Attempt some perspective.
