Reading the CFC item about Rookie upgrades and Garlett's minute frame had me thinking about "Skinny" Lappin and how he has become the natural replacement.

Lappin was one of my absolute favorites and with the body of a bowling pin was lucky to survive all those years on the field without getting murdered. Lappin's ability to take a contested mark, kick some great goals and Has there ever been a better stick thin player with terrific ability playing for the Blues - nay, AFL - than Lappin and (hopefully) Garlett?

I don’t know about being better than Lappin, but Leo Brereton 1957-62, 72 games, 130 goals, 174cms, 70kgs and Bruce McMaster Smith 1962-64, 15 games, 6 goals, 169cms, 60.5 kgs, who we got from Fitzroy were very small players with lots of value.

Don't think i have ever heard a bigger roar from the Carlton faithful than when Lappin put us in front in the last quarter of the 99 preliminary final against the scum. That was truly a blissful moment.

I, almost forgot Cliff Stewart, winger, 1962-68, 78 games,6 goals, 178 cms, 71.5kgs a lightly built player who kept of getting king hit in his courier because of his brilliance and each time he got up and played even better after he got up, he was just full of guts and Ken Hunter of course 1981-89, 147 games, 160 goals, 183 cms, 76 kgs, the best of the small courage’s players who played for Carlton, the list just goes on.

Didn't realise Fraser Murphy kicked so many goals for Carlton. Unfortunate that he missed the 87 GF win through suspension.

WOW, I didn't realise that either.

That's a good return from the pocket rocket with Des English thighs.

Good title for a song: "He's got Desy English thighs"

He played in the 87` GF win and kicked a goal. You may be thinking of 86` when he was suspended and replaced by Bernie Evans i think.

Also I'll bare my backside in Bourke St if Fraser Murphy was 178cm

According to the AFL.....Fraser Murphy was 178cm and 76kg.....wore #18....born 2-1-1963.

107 games 1985-1991....158 goals....from Geelong West; and crossed to C/wood in the 1991 Mid Season Draft.

I'm inclined to think he was more like 169cm than 178cm.

F.Murphy was my last favourite murph to play for us. My second fav fraser. Goals sound about right, always bobbed up for one or two...
