Amazing what Richmond and Adelaide are paying Carlton and Jacobs. Each will get 1 million over 2 years. I know Carlton is giving their recruits a pay increase but nothing as inflated as that.

Unless Grigg and Jacobs turn out to be superstars ... Richmond and Adelaide are really backing themselves into a corner for later on.

Who cares I guess.

Could be the Campbell Brown type forward we have been looking for. If he can take a grab, kick straight and be hard at it then he will be in the side come round 1

Round 1 2011 forward set up:

Betts Henderson Collins
Garlett Ohalipin Houlihan

Carlos and Houla are very weak elements in that setup....

Always have to pay overs for a player you are recruiting.

It's just the way it is.

An inform Houlihan with his precise disposal in the forward 50 is priceless.

Sorry, and no offense J&K but I have to  at the words you use to describe Houla "VERY WEAK"...ie needs a wheelchair? too old? frail?

Re Houlihan: Are you one of the proud Houlihan bashers? Now, how long have you had this problem? Why did it start? Do you have history with him? Do you know him? Have you arm wrestled him?

What has Houlihan done wrong in your opinion? Not back in 2005 in that one off incident, but the last 2 years as a mature senior player.
Lets start with his performance in our losing GF against the Lions in 2009. That should make things easy.

Most people would say we missed Houla in the final against the Swans.

I don't get off on Houla bashing. Sure he'll retire when its all over, but until then he is a required player; hence he's on the list since 1999.

Didnt look like too much of a weak link prior to getting injured this year

Yep, Hoops was only a weak link when he was injured and not on the field. When he is fit, he is starting 18 every week.

Not sure why you assume I'm Houla bashing....simply making an observation....both these players have deficiencies that prevent them from being much better footy players....

Are you referring to lack of forward pressure (Houla) and smarts (Carlos) for each?

Why do we always make excuses for Houlihan's bad performances???

Look I have high hopes for the kid, but let's not get too outlandish in our praise. ;)

Just something about him, isn't there?

It helps he has a long history of being a blueblood.

Carlos lacks footy smarts yes and IMO will not provide too much value wherever he is played....Re Houla its not just his lack of physicality....as he has aged his role now needs to be redefined....he has always been a skilful opportunist who dislikes the rough going....maybe he could be the super sub in a lot of games next season....
