Not young enough to meet his predictions.

Well, "young" could mean "rookie senior coach".

Tealeaves and runes and the stars aren't ever so definite that you can ever pin down predictions.

Let's recap:

we'll win our next flag with a new, "young" coach that isn't Ratten. That could be Richardson.

It'll be an unexpected win that no-one saw coming. I don't think anyone sees us winning the 2011 flag.

It'll be against the Saints, for their third loss in a row.

GIVE US THE CUP ALREADY!!!

All Swanny and Sticks have to do is hold a press conference where they announce that due to a unique alignment of worldlines, the club has been forced to make a significant change to the coaching setup. I wonder if they'll wear robes, or their usual suits?

Yes it takes an amazing gift to come to this conclusion....

Especially when I was saying these things in 2001 and predicting a wooden spoon when we were still in the final 8 - prior to the salary cap saga.

But at 45 years of age - Id have thought that Alan Richardson was a bit on the old side to be the young coach.

And I think that there is something pretty edgy and white line feverish about the character and demeanor of the young coach.

Richardson is a great get by the club - but I think he might end up being a bit of a bridesmaid as far as coaching is concerned.

People need to watch what happens during 2011 with the assistant coaches at the other clubs

Watch for a falling out between a senior coach and one of his assistants - which leads to the assistant leaving his job

Only to take up another one when a new vacancy just happens to come up.

If Richardson does become coach - then what that probably means is that we have longer to wait for a flag than was originally anticipated...

2015 would be too long a wait though because I think that there’s a flag before the 20th anniversary of 1995.

This premiership drought will be longish - but not the longest we have endured

At this stage - I’m thinking along the lines of an incredibly exciting and simulating 2012 - both in a football and also a geo political sense...

Id reckon we are in for a full on white knuckle ride. Followed by a big depression in 2013 and 14 - it might be good time to buy property then. A car running LPG would be pretty handy too.

I hesitate to post this, yes I’ve spent an hour putting together some of Blueman’s greatest hits. Random ones I’ve found flicking through every 3rd page of his history. It's a bit embarrassing, but I had to do it. I know I’ve made my share of gaffes on TC, but then, I never claimed that I can divine the future...

May 22, 2005

2005 will be a second time of darkness for us, but it will be the last period of darkness before the new blues are truly reborn.

- except for 2006 and 2007

April 30, 2006

There is a sudden improvement during the season after the older coach departs. Im am not sure at all whether he departs in 2006. It could be in or towards the end of 2007.

- Ratts lost all the games he coached “during the season after the older coach departed”

Nov 2, 2006
My trips are to the astral plane - sometimes on these journeys, athough I am physically here, I forget to return.

- Actually, no argument with that...

May 5, 2007

Carlton will win another flag with a very young team and a young coach. The coach at this time is in his first year as a coach at afl level.

- okay, very young team, young coach...

June 11, 2007
Dont be at all surprised if Carlton significantly improves their performances after the Dalai Lama's blessing.

- Went from 4 wins 6 losses to 4 wins 18 losses

June 10, 2007
Ive said this since 2002, but it is far clearer now than it was back then. Carlton's time to return to being a football power is between 2008 and 2010.

- Feel the power!

Aug 13, 2007
If Essendon* beats us this week, then it will probably be the last time they will beat us for quite a while.

- Essendon* won, of course it was the first of 6 straight wins

Aug 20, 2007
the new young coach that I saw in 2001 is finally here. Im so glad he made it.

- That’s the one who’s going to win us a flag

Oct 08, 2007
Brett Ratten will be the coach of the 17th premiership team.

- See? Hasn’t been proved wrong yet...

Feb 8, 2008
Judd is our best matchwinner - and his absence will be part of the reason why the losses in the first half of the season will end up costing us a finals birth

-ba-bowww

Feb 17 2008
Darren (Pfeiffer) will become a solid contributor for Carlton.

- kicked a great goal one day!

May 11 2008
Fevola will help win a flag at Carlton.

- Don’t pull out the “well we wouldn’t have got Hendo and Lucas if it wasn’t for Fev’s help”

May 10 2008
Carltons years of good fortune will be 2009 2010 and 2012.
premiership possibilities in all these years, but 09/10 are the most likely years for the 17th flag.

- oh well

June 12, 2008
Grigg will indeed be a 200 game player for Carlton.

- He’s not gone yet I s’pose

July 20, 2008
Carlton will get a key position player in the upcoming draft.

- Nope, not one, not even as a rookie

The next tilt at the final 8 will result in a premiership.

- Nah

Anyway I've had my fun

That's a little harsh as when he posts on the main boards he's occasional offering an opinion on Carlton, but overall the brutality of it is justified.

If that doesn't rip him from the astral plane, nothing will.

I'll second the POW.

Thanks aramari - I've been meaning to do similar for a while.

Reading that was a bit like watching the full 20 minutes of Stephen Fry dismantling the Catholic church.

If you haven't seen it go here: http://www.disclose.tv/action/viewvideo ... ic_Church/

I hope someone has delivered the tub of hand cream and boxes of tissues to Melvey's place after that announcement.
