Collingwood and Geelong are the only top 8 teams that haven't been on the receiving end of at least one 10 goal flogging this season.

We inflicted Geelongs biggest defeat this year

and St Kilda's, no?

Definitely St Kilda's - I remember in their game with the Bummers the commentators were going on and on about how the Bummers were set to inflict St Kilda's biggest defeat of the season BUT THEY DIDN'T.

Yeah we beat the Cats and Saints and on reflection the two wins were nothing but an abberation.

The season is full of half hearted efforts and 2004'esque 10 goal beltings.

For that matter, how often have we been belted by 60pts +?

It's funny comparing the two losses to Collingwood. The first one was 53 points but to me at least felt a fair bit closer with us being blown away near the end after an earlier comeback, the second one was 48 points but felt like the worst beating we'd had all year (I did leave at half time for the first time in my life because I couldn't take any more).

True, the first loss I thought we played our best football of the year during the 3rd quarter.

Same here. In both games the margin wasn't really indicative of how we played.

bottom line is in the second half of this season we have only recorded wins against the sides currently occupying the bottom four spots on the ladder. For the creditability of this group we need to win this week. If we lose this week and next the review of this season needs to be viewed as a fail as we are still a long way off from becoming a club able to sustain some success. List management will be crucial going forward. I just hope we don't kid ourselves and think we are on the cusp at a tilt of another flag by trading away picks for players other clubs are happy to unload. Time for Carlton to stand up and be counted.
