Yes

Gym facilities? I only know of North, and for all I know they're referring to the NM Rec Centre, which has had a pool and small gym set-up for 10 years.

Essendon* started out as such with the Windy Hill Fitness centre, but the Dons rarely use that now, if at all.

You're comparing apples with bananas.

Essendon* contributed the majority of funding to build their facilities.
Carlton took the money under the understanding that they were constructing a community facility. Look at the Kangaroos (Who do open their new facility to the public) and the Bulldogs who have childcare facilities, consulting rooms and offer public access to their gymnasium etc. They took funding under a similar arrangement to the Blues.

Like I was saying, I wasn't sure of other arrangements, and was just pulling out the names of clubs I know to have gyms available to the public. Not prepared to research it because I honestly don't care and in the case of an inner city suburb it's literally over supply.

The undertaking of the funding in our case seems to be without public gym access. Given the nature of some of the equipment, I think that's reasonable. How different our set up is to North's or the Bullies', I can only guess.

The bulldogs don't. Which clubs do? And how? I don't think any club would allow their facilities to be used holus-bolus by
the general public.

You will find that the Bulldogs have a meeting room in their new facility which has a 22 seat OVAL table in it big enough to host Federal Cabinet Meetings - so you will find that that is the only "community facility" they will ever need - and Julia will be hosting a meeting there very shortly.

The public contributed significantly to fund it, so why shouldn't they be allowed to use it?

I feel I owe Carlton FC and I'm part of the public.

In the last 45 years they've given me countless classic games to watch live and on TV.
Then there's all the finals series, GF's and Premiership victories they have entertained me with.

They are a Melbourne Institution and members of the public can go and watch them train if its an open session at Visy Park.

There's plenty of opportunity for the public at Visy Park.
It isn't complete yet.
There's still a museum to open...and that's for public consumption too.

The Blues have given me and others plenty, so I guess I (and others) better stay out of their way and let them work out in a professional manner without interuption. I'll figure out other ways I can repay the club without interferring with them whilst they're at work.

The public have contributed to lots of things that they can't use.
The Victorian Police have their own gymnasium, I can't get to use that.
Should I write an article for the Herald Sun?

What on earth does the Victoria Police have in common with the Carlton Football Club?

(Apart from having had a history of corrupt administrations....)

Eddie McGuire has been the greatest critic of the CFC and Visy Park for not allowing the public to use all of the facilities that he says was partially financed by the State Govt. for the use of all local residents........

Partial use is fine.
Conference rooms, group exercise room.
Museum, cafe sounds enough to me.

Take what you can from the gutterment.
Not sure how denying people access to certain areas has anything to do with the last 15 years either...
As usual get stuffed Eddie.

She does have a point, and it's been suitably shot down. No need for that BS.

They both wear blue uniforms, they both have facilities we can't use but we have contibuted too.
In fact by the sounds of it we might have to pump more money into police gyms if the new recruits have to pass a fitness test annually.
