Very poorly researched article for someone of Martin Blake's calibre - it was Alex Jesaulenko who brought the Mosquito Fleet together as a game plan when he took over as coach in 1978. Parkin did not come to the club till 1981.
As for Ken Sheldon - he could have done a bit more to make sure his son was part of Mosquito Fleet Mark II.
Now let me get back to my VCE Themes in Australian History Study Class - "Carlton Football Club - The Golden Years 1965 to 1995".

My sentiments exactly. BTW has Rod Ashman been cheated a premiership medal? Sure he had 3.
As an aside many commentators don't mention Peter Francis & Michael Young in flag discussions. These 2 had a huge impact in '79 and Francis was almost BOG in the '79GF.
It was difficult for me to crack into the squad with such brilliant footballers.
Francis was a gun. It shows how strong those sides were that he wasn't right at the top of the list.
Not to mention Barry Armstrong and Phil Maylin...

Funny reading posts about how in the modern game you need a "rotation" of about 10 midfielders.
We pioneered that 30 years ago...
