All good as long as you tell little Robbo to straighten up and get Bower's left leg to HTFU (just like a part of me did after the win last night).

I'm willing to admit that I was one who had us pencilled in fir 2and4, or 1and5, so i'm very happy with our current position.

I thought we improved against all opponents so far, with the exception of the Bombers.
So yes we should all be relatively happy.

My thoughts before R1 were that we should be a top 6 team with improvement coming from a more mature midfield and a multi-dimensional forward line.

We should have beaten Essendon* which would have currently made us 4-2 and on track for top 6.

5-3 after 8 rounds, on the way to top 6.

Surpassed most pundits expectations except Dennis Commetti by the looks... I reckon he is a closet Blues fan and put a half mill for us to win the flag..little concerned with complacency...the three amigos were alittle quite and some body pressure phases them out but happy the big blokes picked it up...signs of a damn good team.

next five games look very winnable so hope the boys stay on their toes.

I still think that, without Fev, were going to find it tough and were looking at being 1-8 after 8 rounds, maybe 2-7 if we beat Essendon*

Well 5 - 3 after 8 rounds - awesome effort!!

I reckon the boys have a great chance to win the next five games as well. Lets look at the teams we play:

Hawks - should have been beaten by Richmond on the weekend and are struglling in general.

West Coast - In Melbourne at Etihad - we will be too fast for them, and they can't win more than one game on the road :)

Melbourne - Have played some OK footy, but we should be a far better team than them. Blues should smash em.

North Melbourne - Blues should win that too :)

Freo - In Melbourne at Etihad - Blues should be slight favourites as a result.

So there you go - great chance of being 10 - 3 at the break

It's OK for us to do it but I hope the players keep their focus on their week to week opponents. Worrying about 10-3 at this stage is very dangerous. Any team can have a good game and give them a sniff and even Richmond can win a game.

Was that directed at me?

If so, I'm not sure what makes you think I am not positive?

PS: Signature changed - belatedly I know, just hadn't got around to it.

Agree to a point.

Although I would argue if the Blues players are unable to focus on their opposition each week then their are some serious issues.

ALso, I am not "worrying" about 10 - 3 (why would you worry about that - tis a good thing), I guess I am suggesting that really if the boys can start consistently playing the type of footy we have in the wins over Cats, Saints and now Port, there is should be no reason why they cant keep winning, especially given the draw over the next five weeks.

Don't worry, I'm eyeing off the fixture too. Winning 7 games in a row is a big ask. Its achievable if the team can focus minute by minute.

The old saying about how you can eat an elephant, by one bite at a time is very true.

Sorry! I was digging earlier.... and read the Are we excited thread, from a couple of posts in there I made an assumption. Apologies for that.

Most definitely should be focusing on a week to week basis until we achieve the 12th win.

Most would quietly agree though that we should make the finals from this point, so perhaps a bit more of a tactical eye should be quietly placed on the other likely finalists in preparation.

I can't wait to see how our coaches and players handle their roles in the finals this year.

5-3 is a fantastic effort, even moreso after the collective events of the off-season.

Do not want to be getting too far ahead of ourselves, although it should be said that 8-3 is a realistic possibility now. But 7-4 is a fine effort too, and I'd definitely be happy with that.

One week at a time though.

Why you ask? I just think I have seen enough in what we are doing the last 12 quarters to show we are slowly getting it right.

I think a more confident Waite back in this week and maybe an energised Robbo will get us over the Saints. Armfield will stem Milne and after that I think Jamo and Bower will cover their forwards. Play on every time and drive it long to the advantage of forwards on the move.

Great call Cazzes!!
