I like the way he plays his footy.
I'd also like to see a good role-model for the young indigenous players we're assembling at Visy Park. I think it's no secret that a fair percentage of indigenous players have come from backgrounds that are quite different to their teammates... and having a older, wiser head around the club who's been there/done that could be quite useful.
As it currently stands, the most senior indigenous influence at the club is Eddie Betts.
What about 1AW ?
Craig Bradley and Rob Harvey are at the club....what better role models could you choose than these 2 guys......they don't eat KFC but that shouldn't count against them.
Yeah, well, clearly not too many of the playing list approach their lives like Bradley and Harvey - absolute cleanskins when it came to the booze, etc.
I didn't consider 1AW a mentor-type for younger indigenous players mostly because I'm talking about the guys you pluck from remote Australia... coming from tough family environments... living out of cars, etc. 1AW has indigenous blood, but I doubt his upbringing would have much in common with the Jeff Garletts of the world. Chalk and cheese, you'd think.
