Pratt was always having lunch with the same blokes.

We should all just get on with the football stuff. This off field stuff justs gains momentum from goons like us commenting on them.

Two symbolic moments (for me) pre and post Richard Pratt

1. Pratt hosting Chris Judd to lunch at Raheen, with a string quartet playing in the background. Judd signs on the dotted line despite major offers from all other clubs including Collingwood the frontrunners
2. The amiable farm boy Brett Ratten in torn tshirt shows Bradshaw and Rischetelli around a half finished construction site at Princes Park. Neither want to come to Carlton despite no offers from any other club.

Its not (just) about money but presence.

Sticks is a towering football figure but no President with a capital P. Hopefully not looking to Elliott for inspiration.

Elliott is the administrative version of Fevola.

As the participants are automatic media fodder, the only way to have a private lunch is to go to a private home or some other private venue. Otherwise you're on display.
At a guess Elliott was keen to be on display and Sticks was not.
I wonder who tipped off the media?
Time for some divine intervention courtesy of Don Matteo
