Someone needs to explain to me what red time goals are as we actually kick goals ourselves in this red time.

Some people seem to want us to hold onto the ball in red time and others wants us to attack.

Can't do both.

I don't care what we do, just don't cough up shots at goal!

(although the shot Brogan had at HT could've been avoided if the kick-in wasn't so rushed)

Just back from the game.

PRO:
- Beating this feral lot and living over here, its nearly as good as beating Collingwood and Essendon*
- The Carlton fans at the game! Great noise, great voice, great heart! Plenty of blue all over the ground. Hope you all heard and saw it on TV. Loved hearing the song being sung with 5 mins to go!

Hey Guys, i got to watch my blue boys for the 3rd time this year in the box at AAMI and came away very happy.

PROS:

Midfielders kicking goals, Judd, Murph, Gibbs, Carrots

Gibbs cool under pressure

Hadley clean hands in traffic

Rebound from JR, i like him down back

Thornton continues to play and beat guys taller than him

We are starting to play some sort of consistent football

CONS:

Fev does not lead enough, he stands there calling for it long too much

Kick ins from points are terrible

Got smashed at the clearances (really missed Hammer i reckon)

Betts no impact, give him a rest against the Dees next week and let Yarran play his role.

Still gotta keep upping the tempo to be competitive in September

- Really good to see that we have managed to follow a really good performance with another one the following week.
- Our last quarters: I posted a couple of weeks ago, that despite not having the comeback wins, our fitness and last quarters were better than last year. This is definitely the case. We have now won 14 out of 20 final quarters - the best of any team in the competition.
- Contested possessions: 148 contested possessions to 110 is a fantastic result, our best of the season by a long way. Richard Hadley was superb in this area with 15, and with 7 kicks and 20 handballs, he and the coaching staff clearly know his abilities as a footballer and are playing to his strengths so he and the team don't get exposed as much.
- Gibbs: second quarter got us into the contest. 10 disposals and two goals. All class.
- Murphy: keeps pushing forward, becoming one of the more damaging midfielders in the comp. The hanger on Chad in the last quarter topped it all off.
- Fevola: not just the six goals and six contested marks, but sticking it fair up the Chad's backside, in addition to crunching him in that tackle in the last quarter.
- Russell: fantastic again in defence, using the ball a lot better also.
- Walker: best game in 2009 by a long way, looked really good.
- Thornton: really stepped up his play as that zoning off defender. Six marks from opposition kicks today. If Jamo, Bower, Russell, Austin can step up it allows Thornton to zone off, and then a fit Waite can maybe play up forward next year.

CONS:
-Kick Ins: I watched a bit of Melbourne against Freo before the Carlton game and even the Demons looked a whole lot better than us. I know they were only playing the Dockers, but still. Someone on the coaching staff needs to have a look at a team like the Crows and their kick-outs. They huddled against Collingwood with success and then changed the plan against the Hawks to get the long kick out to Rutten or Stevens with the other one providing a block. We need to look at this not just for our own development, but also to combat it in Round 22.
-Clearances: Everyone has already spoken about this already but 20-7 at the centre bounce clearances is a fair smacking and 42-32 overall is one of our poorer results for the season. Having said that though, the Power didn't hurt us on the scoreboard from the clearances, kicking only 3.5 where as we hurt the Power from ours kicking 7.7. So it's almost a pro
-Essendon: not only did these pricks win, but I don't feel comfortable playing them if we finish fifth, despite the fact that I'm sure it would right a lot of wrongs from us here on TC, if we managed to win our first final in ages by knocking them out of the finals. At least their win will keep our win out of the papers which may keep the boys grounded for another week.

True, but that's if and when the site works correctly. (Yes, I know, they have a lot on their plate™)

I did have the opportunity of the stream, but I had to get some work done today, and also I'm too close to my limit on my downloads until Thursday, so couldn't afford to use the bandwidth.

Pros:
Good effort from the coaches box
Improved forward 50 entries
More use of the corridor
More blocks to support ball carriers
Russell
Army

Cons:

Diabolical kickins
Hit outs - Need Hammer / 206 / Jacobs to stand up in the ruck

Pros

* Singing the club song after the last 4-5 goals in the 4th quarter. Amazing. Absolutely exhilarating experience
* Jordan Russell - love this kid. As I was overseas I wasn't expecting a player of his absolute quality. Champion player who has finally landed in the position that will enable him (and the club) to fulfill the potential that he had when we drafted him. A pure athlete in the back half who has the ability to move the ball on efficiently, effectively and with absolute class. One of my favorites!
* Bret Thornton - I love him. He is my man crush. The leader of the backline without question. He does things that don't get written up in the stats column on so many different occasions that he's a pure joy to watch. Highly underrated and undervalued. Why so many on here want to trade him makes me pull my hair out. I truly believe we're capable of defeating any side THIS year and that includes Geelong and St. Kilda in the finals and Bret Thornton is absolutely pivotal in that. We beat Geelong and there is no doubt at all in my mind that we would have defeated St. Kilda had he been able to play.
* Brendan Fevola - For someone who gets questioned on his defensive intensity, he sure does play impact defensive football. Brilliant game today. Tough, rugged and hard to the core.
* Big Isaac - Ultra passionate Carlton fan who almost got ejected before the game, all for yelling (without foul language) at Cornflakes. Kept it up all game and was die hard to the end. Made it highly entertaining and was worth the price of admission, alone.
* The Carlton Faithful - Enormous amount of Carlton fans at the game today. What an absolute experience it has been. Will definitely be back at AAMI Stadium in the future

Cons

* AAMI Stadium - I love the stadium, but what is it with all of Adelaide's big sporting arenas (Clipsall Powerhouse, AAMI Stadium, etc.) being so far out of the actual City of Adelaide? I don't mind the 25-30 minutes (or longer) that it took to get to the stadium from the city, but when you're used to the AFL grounds being so close to the heart of the city it is really very interesting experiencing sports in Adelaide.

Awesome, awesome game! Carna Blues!

P.S. Did anyone who was watching the game at home on television see the following... late in the 3rd quarter - Chad Cornes receives a kickout in the back pocket next to the goals. I stuck my finger up at him.. He stared right up at me for 1-2 seconds before going back to take his kick. Then he looked back up at me and seemed to yell something... Don't know if it was on TV but  if it was.

Pros:

Terrific, even team performance.
Another strong finish to a game.
Great crowd support.
Some of the usual suspects. Gibbs, Murphy, Fev.
Plus Thornton, Russell.
Good to see Stevo back and fit and in form again.
Really enjoy Robbo's defensive intensity, and the way he takes the game on.
We've obviously got some good players still missing, but the team chemistry and positioning really seems to be working very well at the moment. Simmo and Robbo are important in attack. Russell and Wiggins have really added something down back. (Interestingly, both were drafted playing under age footy in defence.)

Shocking... yes.

Human being...that's stretching it.
