Fev and Scotland only represent our "bad culture" when we lose.

So how many player threads are you going to allow to clutter up the Talking Carlton Forum, we already have:

- Heath Scotland
- Jordan Russell
- Yarran
- Warnock
- Gibbs
- Joseph
- Judd
- Hartlett
- O'hAilpin

This is 9 threads on the first page - which could just as easily be transferred to the Talking Players thread.

But the moderators in this instance have taken the Kevin Bartlett approach when responsible for introducing new AFL rules.

The correct forum for this discussion is TalkingIssues.

5 consecutive Top 10 performances in Carlton's B&F would be good evidence towards the original proposition.

Agree with Josh and others in this thread. He's been very good and very consistent for us throughout his entire time at the club. Courageous player, good skills on both sides and gives us run off half-back.

I've always wondered why so many supporters have never really been able to warm to him. He has been great value.

Scapegoat...like Thornton.

Both fight above their weight imo.

I Agree, Scotland is a great player, especially this year. I can't see why anyone would think otherwise. Maybe his origin?

I think Scotland is generally really important for us, and most times is very valuable. He gives good drive off half back, his disposal most times is good, and he shows great courage backing into packs. He can be a bit loose on his man though.

I have issues with him in the backline as I find his playing style too loose and selfish in the way he does not lay it off immediately and tries to beat his opponent forcing him to kick under pressure.

Interesting point that. Teddy made the observation last year (and I have since watched out for it and agreed) that he too often tries to break tackles, and either gets caught or kicks under pressure. He did it again against Brisbane on Sat night, and was lucky not to be pinged.

Watch Geelong play. When the get the ball, they almost never try and break tackles. If they are under pressure, they give off an immediate handball to someone else in more space. That way, they rearely get tackled or caught with the ball. We are getting better at this, but Scotland is one who still tries to break tackles, and gets caught too much.

It's a fair observation, but over our darkest years Scotland was one who actually did try and create. Could it be that he's actually become so accustomed to there not actually being anyone in a better position than him?

Slightly flippant but i think guys like he and Carazzo now have a more defined role, and we're not expecting them to be something they're not. Carazzo and Scotland are not centre square midfielders, yet at times they've had to play as such. Now our midfield is maturing and going past them.

A lot of people, me included, have said over the past few years that we'll be a better side when guys like Scotland, Carazzo and Stevens are not in our top 10 players. That's not to say they haven't got roles in the team - they do - but they're in the bottom half of the team picked now which is pleasing.

Scotland's had his share of off-field rubbish, but one thing I've never questioned since we got him from the pies for a steal, was his committment to the jumper once he ran out.

Exactly. There are guys like Houlihan and perhaps Thornton (maybe a bit unfair) who sometimes shirk the issue and sometimes look like they'd rather be somewhere else. Scotland, if nothing else, flies the flag like no other. I think he is an important part of our team and certainly has a role.

One of our true champions over the last few years! We look so much better with him in the team. Running off that back line and delivering to our midfield/forward line. He is a complete footy player. Great skills on both sides and makes good/smart decisions. Would love for him to be vice captain.
