It's not a matter of "special kids" and everyone getting a prize.

Why the need to hang shit and bag out our own players?

Why the need to raise a level of negativity, when the team and club are undergoing a positive trend?

I don't get some people.

Raise a level of negativity? Its not intended to be negative and drag the mood of the club and its fans down, its just a lighter look at the club and the players who were not so great, as opposed to the great players in the other thread.

Geez some people need to lower their defensive shields, think of it as a TV bloopers show rather than a Today Tonight style scathing report

More a Today Tonight style report on Fat dolebludging Lebanese shoddy builders with Single Mum daughters who are all on Centrelink benefits.

Serves no purpose, and isn't remotely light-hearted.

It's a bit of harmless fun. I'm sure most of the players mentioned wouldn't have any illusions as to their AFL ability

For the record, I was always a fan of Prenda. If he wasn't forced to play ruck, he would have developed into a handy player. Played some pretty good games in 2001, I remember the Rnd 22 V Geelong and the Adelaide final were very promising.

There have been countless light-hearted threads about teams made up in different ways.

This one was a slag-off, pure and simple. There was nothing but malice in it, regardless of what you say now about it being a bit of fun.

So what makes the countless other threads you spoke off be "light hearted" (and thus I presume, OK with you), but as soon as I post all of a sudden im the Antichrist?

For a start, I wasn't having a crack at you specifically. I don't consider you the AntiChrist, I just think there's no need for "Worst Players ever" threads.

Other ones have been "Worst Carlton Hairstyle teams", etc. Surely you can see the difference.

Wow, the arrogance to presume to know whether a poster is being light-hearted or not.

Isn't it in the perception?

I saw nothing remotely amusing or light-hearted in the thread.

Therefore, the thread wasn't light-hearted.

It wasn't funny at all.

It wasn't necessary.

And, yes, I'm arrogant sometimes. I'm a Carlton supporter, it comes with the territory

Sorry to post in here, and I've never had a whinge like this - but can someone explain why the "bizarro" sister thread to this one was closed down? And summarily, without explanation except "this thread sucks". Pretty lame. To be clear, I'm a bit tired of the old "list the duds" game, but it is not malicious, just a bit cheesy.

And why is it that when a thread is not to the taste of the powers that be, that it's open season for trolling?

Quoting from the site guidelines

There are three reasons why people troll forums:

- to get attention;
- to disrupt threads; or
- simply to make trouble.

(yes I realize I'm disrupting this thread, but the other thread is closed, and sorry, again  )
Was the thread not disrupted prior to being closed?
Is it ok for threads to be allowed to be disrupted by trolling if a moderator doesn't favour it?

Where in the guidelines is the rule explaining why the thread in question not on? Most threads that are closed at least get an explanation that goes beyond the sensibilities of a moderator.

The moderators have a responsibility to maintain order, and I'm sure it's a difficult task, but it must be maintained in a judicious, not an arbitrary way. Arbitrary use of power is a very dangerous thing for any group. I can tell you you're putting users offside bigtime.

It's not just not to the taste of the powers that be. We received a number of complaints about the tone of the thread, some in the thread, some via pm.
