I am a fan of Harts and still think he has what it takes to make it. I just pray that he stays injury free for an extended period of time. When he came back for a couple of games against Sydney and Bulldogs he didn't quite get to the pace of the game but he was ignored so many times when in the clear and unfortunately just on the end of some terrible disposal which compounded his average game on the day.

If he was spotted up just a few of those times or on the end of reasonable disposal he may have gotten into the game a bit more. He really dropped his head in the dogs game and you could sense his confidence was shot.

I am happy for both to get a one year deal. Even Edwards showed a bit in his few games. The only problem with Jake is that it appears he really gets down on himself when he get bad news and I think that might be translating into his efforts for the Ants. He needs to suck it in and keep working hard. And he needs to do better when the ball hits the ground and we dont have possession

I am a fan of Harts as well. When in the ones he is often a victim of injury and our structure as he is of form. He can mark and he can kick, but we have to learn to work with him in the structure. We are still too Fev-centric.

I hope he did get a contract. Edwards too showed some signs, but I am more a fan of Hartlett.

If either were at the Magpies they would represent the second coming.... Harts and Edwards are certainly no worse than Rusling, Reid, Dawes and the rest of their overrated forwardline. We should give these guys some time.

Adelaide is a club which has made a habit of sticking with players and getting results. We dont have to chop guys at 21-22 for the hell of it.
lol no worse then Rusling and Dawes i don't think so,i swap them in a second.Dawes will become a great player.

Also interesting to read article on Bomber Thompson yesterday, and he said that with Gold Coast and West Sydney coming and the next 4-5 drafts so compromised, existing clubs will have a huge challenge to get the best out of less talented players. He said assistant coaches will therefore have to earn their money. This might be why Edwards and Hartlett have been given one year contracts til the end of 2009. Club obviously feel with the next few drafts being so badly compromised, you need to keep as many kids as possible and teach them as best you can how to play the game.

Hartlett being KP may be worth persisting with especially with his brother on the draft horizon but I think Edwards can count himself lucky.
Edwards has the tools to be a handy player but cant get the football enough and hasnt kicked on IMO......maybe with Fisher as potential draft bait the club felt they needed Edwards as some backup.

Im ok with the two re signings. Nothing to be overly fussed about as they will be on two year contracts - and on their last chance.

Would like to see Harts make it at CHF, has the tools to be a good player but far too injury prone.

In round 1 I would have Edwards straight back into the team, and into my heart

EDWARDS 4 LIFE

CALLAN BEASY THE SECOND - except I hope he sticks around longer than the Bease to show us what he can do

If anyone on this forum thinks Hartlett will make it as an AFL footballer has rocks in their heads. If we are fair dinkum Hartlett should not be on the list in 2009. He lacks footy smarts, cannot take a contested mark, lacks leg speed, has no intensity and is injury prone.
I cannot see any upside at all. Four years in the system is long enough...bye bye.

It's a pity i was reading the club statement when they recruited him with Blackwell,Russell,Raso,Bryan.

A key position forward or back, Adam is a strong mark in a pack and also on the lead and will provide some excitement for Carlton supporters with his ability to ‘stand on opponents shoulders’ to take a mark.

He has a very aggressive approach to his football and the real feature of his game is his kicking. He kicks the ball a long way and is very accurate. As a full forward he kicked 17 from 18 shots at goal during the recent finals series for West Adelaide Under 19s. This included a bag of eight goals in the Preliminary Final, a match West Adelaide won before going on to win the premiership.

He is a Full Forward, time to move Fevola in the midfield, lol. Reading that you think Hartlett would be a star.

I've been a fan of Hartlett but have never seen him take a packmark. Even when 'Mike & Dan' have interviewed him, he's been clear that he's more a lead-up player than a pack marker.
