Bingo. He should be a major part of the midfield rotation.

Without being dissrespectful to both of you and Carrotts, I would like say the following:

The opposition let or prefer him to have the ball. The oppostion believe he is less likely to hurt you when the ball is in his hands.

That is an absolute myth made up by the people that Carrots has proved wrong. First he was no good, then when he started racking up the possies people started using the old 'The opposition want him to get it so he turns it over' line which is just pathetic. Fact is Carazzo has no more clangers than any other average/elite midfielder and his efficiency is above average. Granted the opposition would rather him get it than Judd but that goes for every other player. Murphy's disposal was awful at times this year, way way worse than Carrazzo's. Are you saying he (Murphy) gets his high numbers because the opposition coaches want him to get the ball and turn it over too? Fact is you can't tag every player and Carrazzo gets all his possies because he's prepared to work his butt off to provide an option as well as getting the hard ball when required.

Like I said it is not being disrespectul to Carrots but a fair proportion of his kicks would be accurate when they travel 35 metres or less. The opposition would prefer the ball in his hands rather than Judd, Gibbs or Stevens. Of the top possession winners at Carlton I rank in order the most dangerous ball users: Judd, Gibbs, Stevens, Scotland, Murphy and Carrazzo.
If I was an opposition coach and I knew that these guys would be getting 120+ possessions a game I would try and make sure it is the guys at the bottom end rather than the top end that get the ball. Carrazzo still hurts the opposition but he does not have the ability to hurt the opposition like the players above him.

Completely agree. Carazzo provides an option so often. And he is very good in close in avoiding tackles, moves well. While his kicking does not destroy teams like Judd's, I think people judge his disposal unfairly. Personally I don't think he butchers it very often at all. Often he'll take an easier option to kick to but he generally hits the target. And handballing is great. His efficiency stats back this up.

Fair call on Judd, Gibbs and Stevens to a lesser extent but no go on Murphy for me.

..Woof, i hear what yer sayin' and am not completely in disagreement with you.. ..granted, opposition coaches would rather the ball be in the least skilful hands of our team, but more than that, opposition coaches would rather the ball be not in our hands at all.. ..what Carrots does, is to work very hard (both ways) to get the ball, and to provide a link option.. ..and while he has it, the opposition doesn't.. ..and for every clanger he does, he passes it effectively another 5 times (more or less)..

..and, in tight he's quite good, and it's best to have him in the ditches, to pass it off to runners like gibbs and judd who are now hopefully in space.. ..judd's great in close, but the way the team is (especially forward structure), its best to have judd and co. in space, and have carrots feed them from in the packs..
