From this day forth, he shall be known as Mr Smith.

I know the board and Pratt rate Newton very highly
Regardless of that, the point of the post was to ensure all our energies are focused on the quest to make this club the best football team in the land once again- lets not allow what has happened today get in the way of that.

I think today just makes the club stronger and more focused towards success on and off-field.

The Giant is awake now, the more fuel you feed it, the more whoever gets in it's way will suffer as a result.

PS: Interesting that Newton missed a spot on the board a few years ago by a couple of votes. When Smorgon was removed Newton was straight on board. Conspiracy theory?

EDIT: I think i've mixed up Clarke and Newton.

In my view Carlton president should be both competent and high profile. Newton only ticks one box. I would have Ahmed Fahour ahead of him.

I very muchdoubt the next REAL president will come from within the existing board.

It will continue on more or less the same way till the end of the year...

And then im pretty sure people will be appointed in running the club and alot of board members will be asked to move along so the next wave of club eladers will move in uninpeded.....

We dont need peoples egos hijacking the club now that there is a perceived power vacum...and the club seemingly going in the right direction!!... someone moght see this as an opportunistic dream job as everything is set up for success.

Pratt wont allow that to happen...

Look you may have a point, in fact you probably have a point.
We need a unified board. But at least name names as to who you think should go, who should stay, and who should come in. I just don't like this idea of members not getting a say in who goes on the board. Yes Pratt was brilliant and he wasn't elected initially, I know that. All I'm saying is we keep hearing things about changes and no names are mentioned.

My old Politics Teacher had a saying "you get the respect you deserve" and "Fat Corpulent Lush" is as much respect that "one of the lowest circulating and least respected so called sporting columnist in Australia" will get from me - if he has an issue - use a tissue - I think AMCOR produce a few generic brands.

Ok ill say these people would be looked at to come in from outside by the powerbrokers of the club.... now remember the powerbrokers are not always people with official positions in the club... Theyre the movers and the shakers..(eg Pratt) ...

Pratt junior
Elliot jnr
Grollo
Fahour
DeLutis

All these people would have alot of muscle behind them..

To come off the board???
There would be a heap of deadwood...!!!

And no !!!...people shouldnt have a say at this stage....Im sure those that have been running the club can make the best decisions in the near term..

"Those running the club" dont include some of our board directors....(Swann .. and some of the money high powered business people)

Democracy isnt always a great thing... The USA electorate voted Bush in twice... now theyre going to pay for it for YEARRRRRRRRRRS!!!

I think everyone besides Mark, Zac and Richard Newton will be thanked for their service and asked to move on... thats just a gut feel.
