Again, airy fairy terminology. No specifics. What is "working hard" and "dirty work" and more importantly how does it relate to the two players specifically? And why have they been singled out?

It's all typical mumbo jumbo, and is why more than most have been perplexed by this strange thread.

tackles , applying pressure from behind, chasing down opponents , applying sheperds or blocks for teammates, diving on the loose ball, getting belted at the bottom of the pack, running hard both ways, sticking up for team mates

these two guys dont do near enough of that stuff

That's hilarious.

You should apply for a coaching position with Freo.

what do you want

they do it 25% of the time

that would probably be accurate

they need to do it at least 80% of the time

You may be right.

I highly doubt it.

I tend to listen to the Cartlon supporters who take pride in the players.

Sorry.

i have pride in the players who display pride in themselves, the club , the jumper and their performance

i can forgive skill errors and deficiencies but i can not forgive selfishness , laziness and heartless efforts

sorry.

..this season, they've both taken their fair share of whacks.. ..stevo is often at the bottom of a pack, and scotto often backing into packs.. ..it's just that scotto seems to be the disgnated sweeper, and stevo after last yr's injury is prolly told to play more as a reciever.. ..considering the overall skill level of them comparted to others on the list, it all seems very logical to me that they become the playmakers.. ..would be nice if they played forward of center personally..

It was Mick McGuane who coined the term 'downhill skiier'.

It means someone who only runs one way...when his team has the ball...i.e they don't chase. Think about it this way, when you have the ball and your team is attacking, you have all these players in front of the ball and moving forward, ready for you to win it...bad luck if you don't!

A lot of our issues over the last 5-6 years has stemmed from the fact a majority of our senior players, mostly midfielders, only run when we have the ball.

Imagine being a defender in a team of downhill skiiers, where the ball comes into the opposition forward line will little to no pressure and not only trying to stop your direct opponant, but also a few midfielders who have made it down there unmarked.

It cost at least one player his career after Russell Robertson kicked 5 goals in the farewell to Princes Park game.

Nah Mrs C, I'm fine. I've never been one to ignore a wound and let it fester.

Negative posters are downhill skiers . Scotland and Stevens are in our top 6 players more often than not . They have rolls to play , and do the job pretty well IMO .

Yep, parts of their game they do VERY WELL and do it better than most on our list. It's the other defensive parts of their game, which are getting more important in todays game, that they need to CONSISTANTLY improve on.
Hope they have ripping games today and help get the mighties over the line! :-D
