Oh... sorry. I thought we were doing the gangsta rap thing.
BM, glad to hear that you're not after warm fuzzies and blind faith. That's how the Aints roll. Not us.
The feeling around the place at the moment is nowhere near wrist slashing time, but it is a little flat.... Most of us would have seen the first quarter in last weeks game and the level of intensity shown by the players in that first 15-20min has transposed itself onto the supporters.
What I saw that night was hesitancy at its worst and in a gameplan that is designed to both maintain posession and play-on at all opportunities.... that's football suicide.
But here's the thing - the standard has been raised. Our blokes are no longer the easy beats of the competition. We made some key changes in the way we set up against the lions and forced them to adjust to our game. Six goals is @#$%&! all to us. We can reel that in any day of the week and they knew it.
For the remainder of the season, every club - especially the top three - is on notice. We are measuring ourselves against the opposition and letting them know that they will need to maintain their absolute best and be wary of ours. From here on in, we only get better as a group.
2009 is the year when we take out the pry-bar and head towards our premiership window. This year is a skills audit - winning is a skill. If we're going to raise it up a level next year, we have to pass this year's tests. There are 14 tests remaining for the year. Grades are handed out on August 31.
