Ask Marc Murphy if he'd rather Judd or Cotchin playing alongside him.

By any chance are you short??

Did you get picked on at school??

Mummy and daddy showed you no love??

Your constant cheap shots and attacks suggest you are one bitter dude.

I know Dane and no, he's not short; don't know about the school thing; he's not Tasmanian, so the 3rd question is out; and he's probably one of the least bitter dudes I've met.

Before getting all snippy, maybe you should have a good look in the mirror.

I do and it smiles back at me.

All, can we please chill out and stop the personal insults. That also applies to those instigating the insults.

..hey, Melvey's not asking anything bad here.. ..it's a fair enough question.. ..off field, Judd's arrival has been exactly what the club needed, and i find that ti far out-wiegh any on-field question marks concerning Judd.. ..on-field, he's still our best midfielder running at 80%.. ..also, as well as Kennedy is doing in the west, and good luck to him cos i always dug him, at the blues he doesn't work.. ..we kick over him to Fevola far too much, and without Judd we'd still have a sub-par midfield so JK's delivery would be less and unskilled.. ..as for the midfield, as Judd and Stevens get to full fitness, and with Murphy's first chance to actually develope without pressure.. ..our midfield will hit it's straps..and finally we'll be competitive there.. ..we wouldn't have gotten cotchin and krooz, and krooz far more important than cotchin.. ..next year or two a nice wish would be to get JK back, though i don't fancy our odds..

Perhaps in the long run, West Coast will look back and say, "We lost the best player in the AFL in Chris Judd, but we gained two All Australians in Josh Kennedy and Chris Masten and got 10 years of quality service from both of them, plus Tony Notte - we did well out of that deal", but simply put, we couldn't afford to NOT get Judd. This club desperately needed a spark to start our resurgence, to instigate our rise back to the top. And it needed to be big. What bigger than securing the #1 player in the AFL?

He is the most respected and most professional player on any list. He gives our side credibility. He provides a shining light for thousands of young Carton supporters who have long been tormented by loss after loss and dud after dud. He brought on board thousands of members who, for years, have been too depressed by the hopelessness of our plight to buy a membership. He sets the perfect example for the disproportionately large amount of young players at the club, setting the benchmark for professionalism and hard work both on and off the field, giving them the best role model to aspire to emulate. The presence of Judd, I have little doubt, will extract more of our younger brigade's potential than ever would've been possible without him.

In your hypothetical, we wouldn't have had Kreuzer either. Then what of our absolutely deplorable big man stocks? You actually want to make it WORSE than it already is? I was a supporter of Cotchin pre-draft but I have come to like the choice of Kreuzer. He will be a superstar ruckman and will be able to play at CHF (at least) down the track. One of the reasons we are having problems in the midfield this season is our inferiority in the ruck. This won't be for long though and soon we'll have the best ruck division in the AFL.

And lastly... without Judd's influence, without the irrepressible optimism that his arrival brought, without the firm "we're back" mentality that he has given us, without his presence turning this club around and setting us firmly in the right direction, do you really think we'd be able to get the best out of Kennedy, Cotchin & Palmer/Masten/Morton? I seriously doubt it. Look at our side minus Judd. Nearly all kids below 22 who have suffered our shocking football department and post-draft-concession incompetence for their entire careers.

If we weren't in the bleakest 5-6 year period in our club's history and had everything sorted out on and off the field, we probably could've kept #3, Kennedy & #20 and been better for it. But we were in a much different situation to that, and the club made the best possible decision.

I know i might be going over old ground here and i you will say i should forget about it and move on but have we made the most of our demise in regards to trading and priority picks. What would you prefer

Juddy running around in a navy blue jumper or....

our forward setup with Josh Kennedy at CHF, Trent Cotchin and Ryce Palmer on the flanks, Fisher and Betts in the pockets and the big Fev at full forward.

I love Juddy. I understand just how valuable he is on and off field. He sets a standard that this club has never seen before but i cant help thinking we have taken a step back in order to land the Juddsta. We gave away 2 top 10 picks (one being Josh Kennedy) a pick 20.

Right now we could dow with the dynamic duo of the very impressive Palmer and Cotchin running around creating havoc around and along with Josh Kennedy and the big Fev.

They both have there points and without Judds input i doubt we will be sitting on 3 wins this year. Membership wouldn't be up, corporate sponsorship and merchandise wouldn't be on the rise.

I just hope we keep all our draft picks this year or even try and trade for more

Hey Melvey,

Without Judd would we have beaten Collingwood, West Coast and to a lesser extent Melbourne?

I’ve got no doubt that without Judd in that last quarter both Collingwood and West Coast would have run all over us. Against Melbourne he sparked us back into action after they got a run on.

The guy is a marvel wait until he gets seriously fit. If only the other blokes in the side could follow his lead we would be some sort of chance to make the eight.

This is stupid. For the past 2 years everyone has been calling for JK's head. He's not up to it, To Slow, and any other excuse they could find. Now he starts to show his potential and we cry out that we should've kept him and another youngster over Judd?

Judd hasn't hit his best yet. No where near it.
Next thing we're going to start reading on here is Gibbs isn't playing as well as he should for a number 1 pick, who can we take off Adelaide for him?

GIVE OUR STAR PLAYERS TIME!!!!! THIS IS JUDD FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!
JUDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Rather have Judd and Kruezer...Judd is a gun player whose influence on young players cannot be undervalued.
Kruezer is a very good player in the making who is having to handle more responsibility than he should but is coping well and showing plenty..

They are meat and potatoes players who you can build a team around and thats what we need......Cotchin is a good young colt and Palmer a nice finisher but you wouldnt be building a team around them IMHO.

Good point.

Recruiting the likes of Judd and Kreuzer enhnaces our structure. We had the opportunity to do this and we have taken it.

This will always be a discussion point. Never wanted to lose Kennedy or the pick 3 but we were crying out for leadership. Take Judd out of the picture and it might have meant that some of our better younger players would seek greener pastures.

I think it was a win - win for everyone.

Murphy would say Judd and Kreuzer.

Kreuz will make Charman look like a boy scout when he peaks and be a shark when the ball hits the deck.

Our mids will walk taller and grow another leg when they realise they have a ruckman who chases and tackles like his life depends on it.

I just wished we would of stood our ground a bit more and given WC 3 & 20 for Judd and kept Kennedy.

He wasn't going to go anywhere else!

we have. it was a topic of discussion over lunch at my brothers house

it was brought up by a non carlton supporter that taking Judd has its positives and negatives. The reason i brought it up was to see if the positives out way the negatives. It's probably is to early to make a call on it and maybe this thread would be more interesting in a few years time.

If the moderators wish to remove it they can.

All opposition supporters want the Judd move to be a failure, no need to listen to them. I think basing it after 1 mediocre loss when the bloke is still giving top output when he has had no pre-season is ridiculous. I mean trading to get Corey McKernan, Mick Mansfield = stupid. Judd is like getting Michael Voss in 1998 or so, or would of you turned that down?

there's no way judd would've chosen to come to carlton if that was all we had to offer. he said one of the differences between carlton adn collingwood was that we were willing to compensate west coast whereas collingwood wouldn't even discuss what they were thinking of trading. but there's no doubt they could have come up with something a bit better than just pick 3 and 20.
