the way I see it, it's no different to the corporate business world...

those who are the highest paid, do the least. They have younger, lower paid people to do the work for them... :?

Um....did you read the first post of this thread??? No??? Go back, might give you some idea. I know, reading and understanding what people write is hard for you, but at least try.

And if you think there will be no more big contracts, you're living in la la land. Either that or we'll soon be the laughing stock of the League.

Robocop 2 is a funny old movie

I hope we get Ben Cousins and pay him $500,000.

Then if he performs badly we can call him "Whitney"

(ie, career ruined by the coke)

So who's "out there" that's worth bringing to the club for 500 g's?

And I mean serious ones, not, blokes like Judd who will probably be one-club players.

Who's off contract?

I heard Kosi from the Saints is coming off contract - I'd be happy giving him 350-400k but 500? Longmuir? Not really worth that much, but we should chase him.

Your 500k men are the ones who will win you games off your own boot. Not too many of those becoming available....

Verbs if we had players worth 500k we wouldnt be in the shits now would we???
thats why i ignored your question.
we need to finish close enough to the bottom to take advantage..

Well about 35 to 40% of the footballers come out of contract each year.. you dont think there would be anyone valuable enough to chase???
No good coming 10th tho.. because were not allowed to trade first or second rounders.. and Whitnall isnt worth much is he??
Should we trade Fev???
Well we might trade Fev and bring a forward in... that would be a great idea.. its like taking 20 bucks out of your right pocket and putting it in your left and pretending youre richer..

Just ignoring my question, and then throwing up a heap of new questions which show complete ignorance of the thread's theme is rather futile and silly.

I take it large contracts (similar to that offered to and accepted by Riewoldt) are a thing of the past (Elliot) and we will never offer a player anything like that ever again...ever. There will be no next big contract because Elliot is gone. Yes? You have the inside info. Everyone will get nice $150,000 - $250,000 contracts? Beautiful.

Not likely.

Whomever shows some ability, plays well and gets offered a great contract to stay at our wonderful club will be a greedy greedy little pig with their noses in the troft.. bad culture and will need to be eradicated from the footy club if were going to go forwards... I feel sorry for the poor bastard for being good at what they do.

Jude Bolton would be super
Brent Reilly could develop into a top mid
Stevie Salopek is clever and should get more runs
Nick Dal Santo is a gun
Michael Braun is a goer with reasonable skills
Ben Cousins is a superstar who might be on the move
Ryley Dunn would be a gun mid for us
Daniel Harris would suit Pagan's plan
We might be able to snare peripheral blokes like Daniel Cross, Cameron Thurley, Koulouriotis, Luke Ablett...

Just to name a few..... and just to name mids

First I'd go after Reilly. I think he signed last year so he's probably unlikely.

I'd chase Dunn and Salopek second off. To get one would be super.. to get both would be sublime. I reckon they're both out of contract this year, if memory serves.

I'd rather get Dunn and Salopek, to be honest, than Justin Longmuir.... not that I wouldn't want to get him.

I just reckon we need a bloody midfield, and we already have some decent forwards. And, the ruck is the kind of position you can get lucky with with late mature picks (DeLuca and Bryan.. for now)

Reilly is a gun - and is a better kick than Buckley. I rate him extremely highly and would be a useful HBF rotation with Houlihan in the midfield. He has very neat skills and chooses good options.

Unfortunately he'll stay in Adelaide, but I'd throw some reasonable money at him.

Had Cam Thurley in my junior teams in Tassie - special talent and very strong background. We could do much worse!

I think i answered your cloudy question with what it deserved..
Our list at the moment deserves to get 4 million if Brisbanes or West Coasts get 6.2 million so any bastard that wants big money has to perform... and because theyre not good enough i think we should come LAST because were going to put our efforts in developing kids and not winning matches with Bowyer,. Kouta, Campo who wont be around for the next finals.. and also bring in the players we need. AND PAY THEM $$$$$$$$ to change to culture and dynamics of the club.

I wouldnt give it to the average footballers we have!!!

If i want to eat a hamburger why would i eat the crappy ones i make when i have the money to buy the one that makes me feel best???

This whole thing is what i brought up yesterday Verbs.. if we dont finish near the bottom we will have extra cash and will have to give it to someone who cant help us because the AFL have a ridiculous 92% min rule.. so pray we come last and bring in a bloody good player eh??
cos youll find we will bring in another Mott and pay him a 2 year contract that we will still be paying off after we axe him after 1 year.. because were searching for quality.

Debuted well this week, and will prob play against us. Yep, we need to bring them in from outside the square... guys like him or Mickstar's mate at Frankston..

Early picks help but you don't need 22 first round picks to win a flag. You just need a good mix of skills and personalities.

So I ask again, how will you explain the next big contract, be it 2006 or 2010 or whatever year it is signed?

"Greedy greedy little pigs with their noses in the troft.. bad culture and need to be eradicated from the footy club if were going to go forwards... "?

It doesn't matter where we finish. First, last, anywhere in between. Yes we can go the Elliot path and buy a damn good player from another club. Big deal. More than one "Carlton" player is going to be earning mega bucks in the coming years and once they do you are going to be saying "Greedy greedy little pigs with their noses in the troft.. bad culture and need to be eradicated from the footy club if were going to go forwards... " Synbad. Doesn't matter who it is.

Hopefully the next big contract... and i dont know if any one player will get 500k or a mill.. or we will have such a fantastically even side there all on 130k... will deserve his money...

Lets cross that bridge when we get a player worth that kind of money shall we???

Why do you always get caught up on the little stuff???? the stuff that noone but you cares about....

"What do we do when we have to give the next person $500k??" Is that meant to be an intelligent question???cos its not!!!

Each team has a couple.. most produce some dont!! the ones that dont get bagged the ones that do perform are cheered.. thats life!! who the hell cares what we do if they perform???? If they dont perform they get the rotten eggs treatment...!!!!

Are you going to ask me how to tie up shoelaces?? Cos your ridiculous questions to me conjure up verbs in my mind for you...

See, you just don't get it. And you spout on about "intelligence".

I doubt you've actually read anything I've written, and if you have you've definitely failed to comprehend a word of it. Deary me. Take some time to go over the issues being discussed here and try and have a bit of think about what has been said.

Well that probably saved us Walker.. cos we would have been even more over the salary cap and we would have been bent over the school desk even more and Demetriou would have really out the plastic gloves on (((SNAPPP)))))

We should have done it earlier.. we had a captain that refused to train with the rest of the side till he got his money...he did this till he was 38 and they told him to just F**K OFF!!!!!!!....

we did it with hamill??? well if we had done it to Bradley wed still have hamill...and Manton , Beaumont Campo Kouta and allen etc would have shit themselves and not asked the kind of money they asked and got..and neither would have Hamill... because again i keep harping back to it.. the tone was set.. everyone knew all you had to do is threaten to leave and youd get the cash.. no wonder were broke.. its under ex players beds..
