One little quibble Warbs, the photo George highlighted in this thread is actually from 1983 and AFAIK the person who will be interviewed was with the BB's in 1983-84. So they kicked on for a little while past 82.

How'd you get in contact Jars?

Just flicking through your little black book?

Not a prob Jars.....the article I've got says the "Ian Rice led Carlton employed a group of 20 dancing girls named Bluebirds for three years"

I know that the Sydney Swans under the money of Geoff Edelsten copied our girls which were famously called "The Tetley Tea Bags"...... :-D

The interviews I've got explains what each of the leading members are doing today.... one girl runs 4 Dance Schools ....3 in Melbourne and one in Geelong.

haha,

someone wrote to the Blueseum saying that they saw that this person was a Blue Bird from her bio while researching dancing lessons for her daughter. So I thought I would ask for an interview. Might even be one of the Ladies from warby's Herald Sun article, have not seen it yet?

The ones that danced to Lou Gramm?

I'd love to hear the theme music they danced to again - I can remember it as clear as anything but very hard to describe.

They danced to "Survivor" from "Rocky"

This is the Bluebirds at PP in 1981.

Warbs don't you remember at the start of their routine there was this bit of music that had a sort of fake chant in the background "CARLTON, CARLTON, CARLTON, CARLTON" followed by a little trumpet intro??

Melbelle's on to something with that lead Jars. One of the girls who danced with the Bluebrds circa 00/01 or whatever they were called, was Jolene Slater, who is now principal dancer at the Moulin Rouge.

Oh yeah, she's from St Arnaud. Just like the Beek. And me.

If anyone can scan a copy of the poster/photo that Rod Galt took and post it on line - I would almost commit murder to see that. :P

As I remember there were 5 or 6 in the shot and they were the original and founding members it would have had to have been circa 1979/80.

Sorry Jars....this is the best I can do with the time I've got today.

It's a slow finicky job reducing a Newspaper page right down to screen

size on a scanner; and it makes the print so hard to read..

..so much so that I had to give the original coloured article the flick.

Anna Carrick - was the one I was thinking of.

Like the article said she used to by one of Tony Bartuccio's principal dancers and was part of the regular line up of dancers on "The Don Lane Show" - she had the best pair of legs in the business - and might not mean much today to anyone on line these days but her legs were compared with the legendary dancer Cyd Charrise.

Plus she is sensationally looking - and as I recall as a prebuscent teenager used to sneak up the hallway and peer through the glass doors to the Lounge Room to have a look at Don Lanes opening number to see if she was on that night.
